Wisconsin governor calls on Trump to consider canceling rallies amid Covid surge

Source: The Guardian

The governor of Wisconsin has called on Donald Trump to consider canceling a pair of campaign rallies scheduled for Saturday as the key swing state struggles to control a 22% surge in coronavirus cases over the last week.

The increasing infections in Wisconsin are part of a national trend of rising cases playing out as the presidential election enters the homestretch and the president, trailing badly in the polls, accelerates his search for votes.

That search will take Trump to airport hangars in the Wisconsin cities of Green Bay and La Crosse on Saturday, where thousands of people, many unlikely to be wearing masks based on recent rallies, are expected to huddle in open-air crowds to hear Trump speak. Barring a surprise victory elsewhere, Trump needs to win Wisconsin to win re-election.

The campaign plan took shape as a major new study by researchers at Cornell University suggested that Trump is the world’s largest source of misinformation about Covid-19. The findings were based on a comprehensive survey of 38m articles from traditional and online media.

the virus was a hoax and not at all serious. are so surprised when they or a loved one get sick, and finally realizes they were wrong and, too late, regret their stupidity. Frankly, everyone who attends a rally maskless, or goes to a crowded bar not only deserves no sympathy, but in my opinion they should not be allowed to make use of vital health services.

Yesterday I saw a guy enter into the exit of a one way street and everyone around them had to freeze in place as the errant driver found their way back out. It was kind of symbolic of their mentally, unobservant and endangering others, but in the end they are as likely to die from their mistakes.

EMTs and hospital staff should be allowed to treat people who have accidents without helmets as an automatic DNR order, and organ donor consent.

5. Consider ? What about he closes any venue that wants to host a Trump rally ?

He can send the state police and shut them down ahead of the rally. Those governors need to start acting like they mean what they say.

Don't threaten to do it, they will bring generators. Just do it at the moment the rally begins.

Because if there's one thing about Donald Trump, he always puts other peoples' well being ahead of his own. Yep, that Donald Trump...... there's never a question about his humanitarian characteristics.

In new daily cases per capita, 7 day moving average (rankings are of U.S. states, #1 is highest, i.e. worst):
#1 North Dakota
#2 South Dakota
#3 Wisconsin
#4 Utah
#5 Montana
#6 Iowa
#7 Idaho
#8 Arkansas

The trend is not good for WI:
daily new cases, 7 day moving avg, 14 day change: +71%
Last 24 days (from 725 to 2336) : +222% (a 3.22 fold increase)

The RW Wisconsin Supreme has pretty much tied Governor Evers' hands.
