Murphy urges Trump supporters who attended N.J. fundraiser on Thursday to self-quarantine

Source: Philadelphia Inquirer

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said health officials have begun the contact tracing process following a fundraiser in Bedminster, N.J. Thursday attended by President Trump. "The contact-tracing process is underway. We urge everyone who attended yesterday's event in Bedminster to take full precautions, including self-quarantining and getting tested," Murphy said in a statement Friday morning.

Prior to testing positive for COVID-19, Trump flew to his golf course in Bedminister, N.J. on Thursday to attend the fundraiser, which put him in close contact with a number of people, including campaign supporters and his immediate staff. The New York Times reports the president came in contact with about 100 people and seemed "lethargic."

The president did not wear a mask Thursday, including at the events at his golf course and on the plane, officials told the Washington Post. Trump departed Morristown Airport in Air Force One at 4:40 p.m, according to pool reports.

"Tammy and I send our best wishes to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a speedy and complete return to good health," Murphy and his wife, Tammy, wrote in a joint statement. "If there is one thing we have learned in New Jersey over these months, it's that we pull together and support everyone fighting this virus."

GOP donors ‘freaking out’ after coming close to Trump at fundraiser hours before his positive Covid-19 test

Republican donors who attended President Donald Trump’s fundraiser at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club are panicking after being around the commander in chief hours before he announced that he was infected with the coronavirus. GOP donors have been reaching out to Trump campaign and GOP officials for any guidance following the event, according to a person briefed on the matter. “The donors have been texting and calling. Freaking out,” the person with direct knowledge said. This person declined to be named as the conversations were deemed private.

Trump’s campaign, as of Friday morning, has not sent out any official guidance to many of the donors involved with the event. After publication of this article, donors who attended the gathering were sent an email with an 11:18 a.m. ET time stamp. The email reminds them that no one was permitted within six feet of the president and advises them to contact their doctor if they start feeling coronavirus symptoms.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we want to call this to your attention. Please be reminded that due to Trump Victory-protocol, no attendees were allowed within 6 ft of President Trump at the event,” the email, signed only by “Trump Victory,” says. “Please contact your medical provider if you or any of your loved ones is ill or develops a fever, shortness of breath, or other respiratory symptoms.” About 30 to 50 donors came close to the president Thursday night, this person added, while noting most of the interaction with Trump took place outdoors. Many of those contributors who have been able to get in touch with GOP officials have been told to stay home and reach out to their physician for next steps.

The gathering had tickets costing up to $250,000. Dr. Rich Roberts, a longtime Republican donor, told The Lakewood Scoop on Friday that Trump privately met with about 19 people at the event. Roberts estimates that the meeting lasted about 45 minutes.

This part is particularly ironic -

GOP donors have been reaching out to Trump campaign and GOP officials for any guidance following the event

"Guidance" has literally been discussed, promoted, and broadcast - in newsprint/radio/TV/internet ads - LITERALLY 24/7 FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS.

calling all those people hosting big parties, "knuckle-heads" as his "mitigation"...

Meanwhile here in PA, there is this back and forth across the Delaware River bridges between the 2 states where stupid people here keep going there and then bringing the infection back over here again.

Unless Deplorable One tells them unequivocally the COVID-19 is real, they will insist that it is a hoax.

Since they ignored the gathering and masking ones, then they have no intention on complying with anything that would take away from their FREEDUMS!!11!!!!!
