(675 posts)Republicans are so fucking stupid. And from what I read, people at the White House are still walking around without masks today.

GOP Sen. Mike Lee tests positive for the coronavirus
By Colby Itkowitz
Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) announced that he, too, has tested positive for the coronavirus.
The senator was at the White House on Saturday for Trumps Rose Garden event announcing Judge Amy Coney Barrett as his Supreme Court nominee where there was virtually no one wearing masks and no social distancing.
In a statement, Lee said he tested negative at the White House ahead of that event but began experiencing allergy-like symptoms Thursday. He got tested again, and it came back positive.
Lee, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, met with Barrett on Tuesday on Capitol Hill, and the two were photographed together not wearing masks. Lee has also had close contact with the committees chairman, Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.).

(2,149 posts)The same mentality that manages to accidentally shoot themselves in the foot, or comes to a raised drawbridge and thinks it's a good idea to try to jump the gap driving a 2007 Corolla, or otherwise demonstrate full worth of the moniker "Moran", is on full and terrible display right now. Not just this, with a major political party committing pathogenic self-immolation, but their embrace of right-wing extremism and antidemocratic measures, and the amplification of foreign disinformation designed to disrupt our country and institutions
We have to keep focused on the vote. Every vote is critical, every candidate needs to campaign like they mean to win, if the polls say it's a 5% lead work to push it to 10%, and if the polls say 10% work to push it to landslide. But stupid is a powerful wildcard and I think it is juuuust starting to ramp up as we come down the stretch!

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, announced on Friday that he tested positive for COVID-19just days after he met with Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett in person.
Lee said he started experiencing symptoms on Thursday morning, symptoms he believed were consistent with longtime allergies.
Out of an abundance of caution, I sought medical advice and was tested for Covid-19. Unlike the test I took just a few days ago while visiting the White House, yesterdays test came back positive, he said. On advice of the Senate attending physician, I will remain isolated for the next 10 days.
Lee also said he has assured Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) that he will be back to work in time to consider Judge Barretts nomination in Committee. Hearings are expected to begin on Oct. 12, which is, indeed, 10 days from today.
