GOP Sen. Ron Johnson Went to Oktoberfest Party After Testing Positive for COVID-19

Source: The Daily Beast

He insists he stayed 12 feet away from guests and only took his mask off when it was time to address the crowd.

U.S. Senator Ron Johnson tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. But, after finding out he had the virus, which has killed more than 220,000 Americans to date, the Wisconsin Republican still chose to attend an Oktoberfest fundraising dinner that evening.

Johnson, who didn’t reveal his diagnosis until Saturday, justified his behavior in comments to the Madison, Wisconsin Capital Times by saying he only took his mask off when it was time to address the crowd. He also insisted that he was “at least 12 feet from anybody” during his speech at the event, which was sponsored by the Ozaukee County Republican Party. It was held at the River Club of Mequon, a self-described “casually elegant private club committed to personal service.”

“I feel fine, I feel completely normal,” he said in a conference call with reporters, adding that he didn’t “stick around” to mingle at the dinner.

Attendees paid from $40 for a single ticket to $500 for “gold host” status, which included two meal tickets, priority seating, and “special host recognition.” Former Wisconsin attorney general Brad Schimel was the evening’s featured guest, according to an invitation on the Ozaukee County Republican Party’s Facebook page.

He should be able to figure out that after testing positive for covid he shouldn't be going to parties.

Trump's fundraiser and then this one should be clues that the only thing they value are the dollars.

Reckless endangerment and causing or risking a catastrophe for starters; and if anyone dies as a result, then third degree murder which requires a showing of depraved indifference which about sums up the mindset of the entire trump death cult 🤬

"Editor's Note: This story has been updated to reflect that Sen. Ron Johnson was still awaiting the results of his COVID-19 test when he attended the Oktoberfest. He says he got the result that he was positive afterward."

sooooo

this just goes to show ya that even tho you *think* you might have the covid, and even tho you went and got a test for the covid--it's okay to go out, be around other people, and in crowds just as long as you don't have the test results back yet

when this one happened (where he was supposedly still under that earlier quarantine and thus could not attend the super-spreader Rose Garden event). It makes you wonder if he really DID "quarantine" the previous time or was merely bullshitting about that.

He can potentially murder someone by infecting them with the virus.

I am not a lawyer, but that should have consequences for that jackass.

There must be some consequential charge that fits knowingly exposing others.

Without consequences, imbeciles like Johnson will just keep putting others at lethal risk.

"I feel completely normal."

If normal for him is zero conscience, zero reasoning, and 100% self-aggrandizement and greed-motivated conduct, I suppose he's right. He's "normal."

Do you think he could possibly harbor the insane notion that his feeling "normal" somehow protects the people he infected from dying? Or does he just not give a shit about anything beyond his own "feeling fine"? (I'll go with the latter.)

Rumor has it Ron Johnson might be retiring when his term is up in 2022. Maybe we can talk Russ Feingold Our Rhodes Scholar (a real one) to run again. He served 3 terms.

Inside scoop told me Feingold's 2016 campaign was poorly run. I think that ship has sailed. I was thinking the other day who could run in 2022 and no one obvious came to mind.
