White House Is Not Contact Tracing 'Super-Spreader' Rose Garden Event
Source: NYT
Despite almost daily disclosures of new coronavirus infections among President Trumps close associates, the White House is making little effort to investigate the scope and source of its outbreak.
The White House has decided not to trace the contacts of guests and staff members at the Sept. 26 Rose Garden celebration for Judge Amy Coney Barrett, where at least eight people, including the president, may have become infected, according to a White House official familiar with the plans.
Instead, it has limited its efforts to notifying people who came in close contact with Mr. Trump in the two days before his Covid diagnosis Thursday evening, and it has cut the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which has the governments most extensive knowledge and resources for contact tracing, out of the process.
Contact tracing is an essential piece of any outbreak investigation and is a key to stopping the virus from spreading further, especially after a potential super spreader event where many people may have been infected.

(6,853 posts)Why would we think an action that requires forethought and consideration of others be on their list of things to do? The White House is now 100% Trump, they are one and the same. So why would there be any difference in their response?
Regardless, I think were at the all the kings horses and all the kings men stage of his reign.

(7,392 posts)Contact tracing would depend on that critical date. Think, if he last tested negative on Monday, what that would mean. It would mean that it was likely that Hope Hicks and him were infected by the same person at the same time so who was it. What is the protocol for first testing positive with the quick test. Do they have issues with sometimes having a false positive? That would set up the possibility that they look for two positive tests in a row before doing the slower, more accurate test. They showed up late to the debate where there wasn't time for the test that was built into the debate schedule. Was he already positive on Tuesday? That needs to be answered conclusively. Right now we don't know that answer because the WH is refusing to release that information. You can't hide behind HIPPA on a national security issue. Come clean Trump and staff.
