John McAfee indicted for tax evasion, arrested in Spain
Source: CNN
John McAfee, the antivirus software magnate and former Libertarian presidential candidate, has been indicted for tax evasion.
McAfee allegedly failed to file his taxes for four years despite earning millions in income between 2014 and 2018 from promoting cryptocurrencies, consulting work, speaking engagements, and selling the rights to his life story for a documentary, according to the indictment filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.
The indictment alleges that McAfee evaded taxes by having his income paid into bank accounts and cryptocurrency accounts in the names of others, while also using the names of others to conceal ownership of property and assets including a yacht.
The amount McAfee owes was not specified in the indictment.

(20,591 posts)Reports from Belize say he had several people murdered. He's just plain bad news, and I'm glad they finally arrested the piece of filth.

(13,431 posts)Yes, I think everyone thought he was insane. Why is it the rich rarely see consequences, we keep seeing them get away with so much over and over again.

(20,591 posts)He started the company, yes, but was forced to resign for being such a lowlife, crazy bastard. He hasn't had anything to do with the company since the 90s.

(1,568 posts)He hasn't had much to do with that company in a very long time.
John McAfee, who no longer has any involvement in the company, expressed his pleasure at his name no longer being associated with the software. "I am now everlastingly grateful to Intel for freeing me from this terrible association with the worst software on the planet. These are not my words, but the words of millions of irate users." However, as of 2016 the products still bore the McAfee name.

(10,165 posts)Jesus...your computer would run faster infected with a virus than if it was clean and had McAfee installed. I did a trial version decades ago and got that shit off my computer as fast as I could.
It's owned by Intel and a couple of others and still does billions $$$ in revenue per year by...someone buying the shit.
