A Texas police officer accused of fatally shooting a 31-year-old man Saturday night has been arrested on a murder charge, the Texas Department of Public Safety said Monday night.

Wolfe City Police Officer Shaun Lucas did not take reasonable action in the encounter that killed Jonathan Price, 31, a former Hardin-Simmons University football player, the state agency said.

The department said that Lucas responded to a disturbance call about a possible fight in progress around 8:24 p.m. and made contact with Price. Lucas "attempted to detain Price, who resisted in a non-threatening posture and began walking away," according to DPS.

Lucas used a Taser stun gun on Price, "followed by discharging his service weapon striking Price," the department said. Price was taken to a hospital where he died.

(I know the relevant city is Wolfe City, not Austin, but these are the guidelines I found):

Objectively Reasonable - An objective standard viewed from the perspective of a reasonable officer on the scene, without the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, and within the limitations of the totality of the circumstances presented at the time of the incident.

-Austin Police Department Policy Manual p. 50
