Revealed: Amy Coney Barrett lived in home of secretive Christian group's co-founder
Source: Guardian/US
Amy Coney Barrett lived in the home of one of the founders of the People of Praise while she was a law student, raising new questions about the supreme court nominees involvement with the secretive Christian faith group that has been criticized for dominating the lives of its members and subjugating women.
[snip]
The revelation offers new clues about the possible influence of the People of Praise, and one of its leaders, on a woman who may shape the direction of the supreme court for the next 40 to 50 years. Barrett has said she is a faithful Catholic but that her religious beliefs would not bear in the discharge of my duties as a judge.
Public records and a record of a speeding ticket show that Barretts husband, Jesse, apparently also lived in the home in the years before their 1999 marriage. The public records examined by the Guardian show where individuals receive their mail, including bills. It is difficult, based on the records alone, to determine when precisely individuals lived in the residence. The database shows no other residence for Amy Barrett at that time.

Well, well, well, confirmation of radical, demented, religious beliefs. Pence must be having sleepless nights he is so over-the-moon about his dream judge. Apparently, they want America to be a radially conservative religious country.

She is a religion zealot. I dont believe she doesnt bring that to her opinions.

(4,552 posts)Goes so deep, she wouldnt even realize she was basing here court decisions on those innate beliefs. It is who she is.
I have to say, I wasnt sure if she just looked washed out and pale at the party because she hadnt slept or was tired, or having some residual COVID effects. She seems very lifeless.
Now I am wondering if this is her demeanor, bred from years in this Patriarchal cult.
We need to do everything in our power to keep her off the supreme Bench.
She will do more negative harm than all of RBGs years of good.

(9,245 posts)That's what Republicans want. It's amusing (kind of in a not-so-funny way) to watch them whine about "sharia law" being implemented here --- WHEN THEY'RE GUNNING FOR HAVING IT IMPLEMENTED HERE THEMSELVES -- only they'll call it "Christian".
Pffft.
