Live updates: White House clears FDA coronavirus vaccine standards it tried to derail

The White House on Tuesday approved tough new standards for coronavirus vaccines after weeks of delay, but only after the Food and Drug Administration unilaterally published the guidelines on its own website as part of its briefing materials for outside vaccine advisers.

The standards, which would be used for an emergency authorization of a vaccine, are the same as the ones the agency proposed weeks ago as part of an effort to boost public confidence in an eventual vaccine. In many cases, they are close to the standards for a full approval. But the White House, worried the criteria would delay authorization of a vaccine, presumably beyond the Nov. 3 election, sat on the guidance.

and all but suggested NO regulatory action. The irony is BIG PharmaX had already indicated agreement with the FDA standards and Trump was only feeding more (understandable in this instance) anti-vaccine paranoia.

The mind of 'Patient Nero' froze up sometime around the 'Death Wish' movies, and he imagines this country is the one important market and predominant in technology. Neither thing is true. A vaccine will be marketed globally, and the companies have to satisfy authorities all over the world of safety and standards, and they maintain a regulatable presence in many countries presenting sizable markets.
