Dr. Fauci says he was taken out of context in new Trump campaign ad

Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Dr. Anthony Fauci did not consent to being featured in a new advertisement from the Trump campaign touting President Donald Trump's handling of the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, the nation's leading infectious disease expert told CNN his words were taken out of context.

"In my nearly five decades of public service, I have never publicly endorsed any political candidate. The comments attributed to me without my permission in the GOP campaign ad were taken out of context from a broad statement I made months ago about the efforts of federal public health officials," Dr. Fauci said in a statement provided exclusively to CNN when asked if he agreed to be featured in the ad.

The Trump campaign released the new ad last week after the President was discharged from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center following treatment for Covid-19. The 30-second ad, which is airing in Michigan and Pennsylvaniz, tout's Trump's personal experience with the virus and uses a quote from Dr. Fauci in an attempt to make it appear as if he is praising Trump's response.

I'm glad Fauci said something, but I highly doubt he's going to be able to take legal action to get the spot pulled.

Seems as if there should be consequences for misrepresenting someone and using their images without permission.

Honestly, what an unreal move from a pathetic group of losers. After trying to descredit and silence Dr. Fauci they use him in an ad without his knowledge pretending to show support for that fool. A fool who just came back from the hospital, infected with Covid, and the first thing that jackass does is remove his mask. Everything against Dr. Fauci's recommendations.

This nightmare can't come to an end soon enough.

In a statement to ABC News Sunday, Fauci said he didn't give consent to the GOP to use his comments from a March interview with Fox News in which he complimented the federal government's efforts against the coronavirus by saying, "I can't imagine that anybody could be doing more."

"In my nearly five decades of public service, I have never publicly endorsed any political candidate," Fauci said in the statement. "The comments attributed to me without my permission in the GOP campaign ad were taken out of context from a broad statement I made months ago about the efforts of federal public health officials."

Despite Fauci's objections, officials from the Trump campaign told ABC News they plan to continue to air the ad.

As usual, tRump and his fellow GOPers are unethical assholes who don't give a shit about truth. I really wish Dr. Fauci would consent to making a video calling out the lies.
