GOP senator Ben Sasse said Trump 'kisses dictators' butts,' flirts with white supremacists, mistreat
Source: Business Insider
Republican Sen. Ben Sasse slammed President Donald Trump this week during a phone call with Nebraska constituents, saying the president "kisses dictators' butts," "has flirted with white supremacists," mistreats women, and "mocks evangelicals behind closed doors."
Sasse made the comments during a telephone town hall meeting in response to a question about why he has publicly criticized the president. The remarks were first reported by the Washington Examiner, which obtained and published a nine-minute audio clip of the senator's response. The clip has since been authenticated by the New York Times.
The senator said the president spends recklessly and that his family has treated the presidency "like a business opportunity." He also criticized Trump's foreign policy and record on human rights, accusing the president of ignoring "that the Uighurs are in literal concentration camps in Xinjiang right now" and not doing enough for pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong.
"It isn't just that he fails to lead our allies. It's that the United States now regularly sells out our allies under his leadership," he said.

(11,241 posts)that many Republicans are COMPLETELY aware of who and what DJT is. And they are willing to accept the damage that he does to the country as the cost of remaining in power.
(many people are under the impression that almost all Rs are "true believers." they are not. it is a much more cynical game than that.)

(32,577 posts)... then he's complicit in the rest of this charade. The Repukes all knew that the NRA money was secretly from the Russians. Didn't matter, they took the money anyway. Now they're going down.
There's not a single GOP incumbent who deserves to be re-elected. Not one.

(16,314 posts)for 2024. They have given up on the asshole. Sasse is a republican piece of shit (of course). He's already positioning himself as a moderate (yeah right) republican for 2024. The anti trump against the socialist Biden. Sadly for them, and good for the universe, it won't work. They'll cannibalize themselves. It will be a joy to watch...

Sasse is another wanna be president like Hawley the liar from Missouri! These two are without a doubt POWER hungry pricks.. And if somehow the party survives Trumpte, these 2 will be the leaders of a party that looks more Libertarian than republiCON...

(1,203 posts)so it's up to Dems to remind the US what a lapdog Sasse was to Trump when he had the chance to challenge Trump.
Don't let the US forgot how we got here in the first place. There were no moderate Repubs in 2020 when it came to US teetering on the cliff to fascism.

(312 posts)I'm willing to keep working against this nomination, and he will definitely hear from me to encourage him to do the right thing and vote against ACB.
It's worth the effort, in my opinion.
It's possible he could follow through on his word.
