France's Macron: Teacher beheaded in 'terrorist attack' after discussing Muhammad cartoons

Source: usatoday.com

PARIS – French President Emmanuel Macron denounced what he called an “Islamist terrorist attack” against a history teacher decapitated in a Paris suburb Friday, urging the nation to stand united against extremism.

The teacher had discussed caricatures of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad with his class, authorities said. The suspected attacker was shot to death by police after Friday’s beheading.

The French anti-terrorism prosecutor opened an investigation concerning murder with a suspected terrorist motive, the prosecutor’s office said.

Macron visited the school where the teacher worked in the town of Conflans-Saint-Honorine and met with staff after the slaying. An Associated Press reporter saw three ambulances arrive at the scene, and heavily armed police surrounding the area and police vans lining leafy nearby streets.

France has a section of radicals, even entire towns. The UK does as well.

that you need to be careful what you do or say in front of kids.

Some will interpret things in their own way, take that home, and have adults in the household react in unpredictable ways.

Showing a caricature of Muhammad as a way of teaching kids tolerance, is just a dangerous thing to do. I would not do it.

Islamist terror attack or an over reaction by someone with a very rigid mind set? You decide.

The goal is making secular people self censor themselves. We should give no leeway to a group of people who are willing to kill over a cartoon. They should certainly get the message that that kind of thinking is not welcome in our countries.

Those cartoons should be posted widely.

The person who did it was a extremist. Even Macron used the term "Islamist terrorist attack.”

they need to be isolated on an island somewhere. sooner or later they will all kill each other and we'll be rid of the problem. ok ok so it's a fantasy. The certainly don't deserve to co-habitat in civilized society.
