Biden Team Tells Supporters to 'Campaign Like We're Trailing' as Harris Will Visit Florida Monday

Source: Newsweek

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's team warned its supporters to "campaign like we're trailing" in polls the same day that his running mate, Senator Kamala Harris, announced she would visit Florida on Monday.

Harris, a Democrat from California, is set to visit Orlando and Jacksonville to celebrate the first day of early in-person voting, The Hill reported. The events mark her first public appearances since the campaign announced Thursday that multiple staffers tested positive for COVID-19.

But in a memo slated to be sent to supporters on Saturday, Biden campaign manager Jennifer O'Malley Dillon cautioned that polls can be faulty or imprecise, The New York Times reported. And while national polling averages do show Biden with a strong lead, some individual states are proving more worrisome for the Democrat.

"While we see robust leads at the national level, in the states we're counting on to carry us to victory like Arizona and North Carolina we're only up by three points," she wrote in the memo obtained by the Times. "We also know that even the best polling can be wrong, and that variables like turnout mean that in a number of critical states we are functionally tied -- and that we need to campaign like we're trailing."

The Biden campaign is absolutely correct. Polling does not equal voting. For example, in Texas where the Governor is limiting ballot drop boxes to 1 ballot box per County, thus giving a huge advantage to red counties, it is going to be a challenge for voters in Blue areas to cast a ballot.

So what is a Biden is ahead if Governors and conservative courts conspire to make voting really difficult? Yes, it is not John Lewis difficult, but Republicans are working hard to get back to those days.

This could still go either way since the GOP is suppressing votes more than they have in our history. They are lying and cheating because their lives (as they see it) are on the line. Power and $$$ IS their life, their reason to live.

3. Wisconsin breaks coronavirus case record for 2nd day in a row

Trump is holding a lot of mass rallies in Wisconsin, because the right wing State Supreme Court has invalidated the Governor's efforts to limit such mass gatherings. So, Trump likes to go to Wisconsin so that he can have his ego stroking mass super spreader events.

Biden/Harris have visited Wisconsin several times over the past two months. Heck, Jill Biden and Elizabeth Warren are going to be there on back to back days. iven that the Governor has been harshly critical of the Trump campaign packing people in, it would be a huge mistake to try to hold a Trump-like rally just because you can get away with it in Wisconsin.

MADISON (WLUK) -- Wisconsin broke its daily record for new coronavirus cases for the second day in a row on Friday, while the seven-day average now tops 3,000 cases for the first time.

The state Department of Health Services reported 3,861 new cases, or 26.5% of the 14,586 tests completed. That broke Thursday's single-day record of 3,747 cases.

The state also reported 21 new deaths, with the seven-day average rising to 19.

Also on Friday, a third lawsuit was filed arguing that Democratic Gov. Tony Evers had overstepped his authority by issuing public health emergencies and implementing a statewide mask mandate and capacity limits for bars and restaurants. Evers on Friday launched a television ad criticizing Republicans for inaction. President Donald Trump planned to hold a rally Saturday in the state.

hogging local headlines here because he's coming every other frikken week. Get on WI publicc radio, do a streaming something or other thats specific to Wisconsin. I dunno, get creative!

What about these platforms where you can get online and attend presentations or concerts in real time, live, as they are happening - I did one of those recently (a music performance) and it was a lot of fun!

I think Harris was in Milw a month ago, and Warren was here too so notlike we're totaly ignored but still....would be nice if there was something that the voters could get involved with istead of reading about it after the fact.

‘Wisconsin is right at the heart of America’: Sen. Elizabeth Warren campaigns for Joe Biden in Madison, Milwaukee

Posted: October 17, 2020 8:22 PM
by Gabriella Bachara

MADISON, Wis.– Both campaigns hosted rallies in Wisconsin on Saturday, but with very different styles. Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren hosted a drive-in ‘Get Out The Vote’ rally, where people stayed in their cars and listened to her message through the radio. “Wisconsin is right at the heart of America, and making the case to Wisconsin is making the case to people all across this nation,” Warren said.

Warren covered several major issues, including healthcare, equality and COVID-19, a topic close to home as Wisconsin faces record breaking case numbers. Warren said Biden has a plan that would turn those numbers around. “The difference between Joe Biden and Donald Trump on COVID couldn’t be clearer,” Warren said.

Attendee Brandon Hartman said that’s represented by the rallies hosted by each of the campaigns today. “This is much safer because we are in our cars, we aren’t face to face,” Hartman said. Despite staying in cars, voters are still energized by Warren.

Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin and Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin Mandela Barnes joined Warren at the rally.

If the media there isn't covering it, that's because the appearances apparently aren't FREAK SHOW entertainment that the media seems to prefer like.

but I do read all kinds of online newspaper/news sites as well as whatever is posted on the main thing that actually brought me to DU 12 years ago in the first place - LBN!

Because I have donated to the DNC, Democratic candidates, and Democratic causes, I have been slapped on who knows how many related email lists, so I get literally dozens of emails every day about who is going to be where and who needs what money (and I had to unsubscribe from many because I had no idea how I got on their lists ). So you could maybe get on one of the WI Democratic Party lists to see what is coming up.

One such Biden Campaign email that I literally got about 30 minutes ago included this -

8. But the Rallies Are the Reason Why Trump Is In Wisconsin, BUT...
Sun Oct 18, 2020, 10:06 PM
Oct 2020

...I think that Trump's mass super spreader rallies are also turning off some people in Wisconsin given that they are so obviously unsafe.

I think the Biden/Harris team should focus on Wisconsin, but they should not try replicate Trump at all, because I think Trump exploitation of the weak rules against mass events in Wisconsin might hurt him, particularly if cases and deaths continue to rise in Wisconsin.

In fact, just like Stugis in South Dakota, a strong argument can be made that the Trump campaign itself is helping fuel the surge of cases in Wisconsin.
