Trump heads into final campaign stretch forced to play defense against Biden

Source: ABC News

President Donald Trump, down in the polls to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and facing a once-unimaginable cash crunch, has been forced to spend the dwindling final weeks of his reelection fight on defense.

Out of the 13 rallies in nine states that the president has scheduled since returning to the campaign trail after being diagnosed with COVID-19, only one, Nevada, would be a pickup for the president -- the others show a president needing to spend valuable time and money predominantly campaigning in states he won in 2016, including some he won handily like Iowa.

(snip)

Internally, the Trump campaign is increasingly worried that the president's chances of winning North Carolina, a state the team has heavily invested in and views as essential for Trump's path to victory, has all but evaporated. The campaign had viewed the state as "super safe" as recently as just a few weeks ago, sources told ABC News.

And with the fallout from the first debate and Trump's contracting the novel coronavirus, some aides inside the campaign have started to grow fearful of what their employment prospects may look like if the president were to lose, sources said.

Honestly unless they give a public apology to us for the four years of hell they should be banned from government service outside the army.

I, and my fellow leaders, spent the majority of our time trying (usually unsuccessfully) to turn people like Trump’s aides into even marginally acceptable soldiers. Oh, Specialist Jones wants to be an officer and you want me to help him prepare for his OCS interview? Well...maybe tonight, PFC Smith showed up to the Class A uniform inspection 20 minutes late wearing a Silver Star ribbon he didn’t earn, and now the colonel wants me to come up with a plan for dealing with this asshole by the end of the day. Well...actually I did come up with a plan, but the colonel wants something that doesn’t involve a firing squad.

I only ever had one "PX Warrior" under my supervision, but he was able to make it to formation on time.

Here's one that really did happen, and it was pretty bad...we had two guys in my company (who didn't work for me, fortunately) who were bad enough they had to report to the Charge of Quarters desk every hour on the hour until midnight. About 2 am, I get a call from the MPs: "Do you have a Private Smith and a Private Jones in your company?" Yeah... "You need to send a commissioned officer down here tomorrow morning after 1000 (pronounced 'ten-hundred') to pick them up. They went downtown and got in a fight with a German civilian, and the Polizei want them shipped out of the country right now." (If you want to see our barracks, google Aparion Apartments Berlin. Someone bought our old building and turned it into a hotel.)

These assholes knew my Assistant Charge of Quarters and I were taking turns sitting on a chair outside the barracks to watch the doors, so they opened their room window which was on the back side of the building, jumped out, and walked about half a mile to evade our view. Then they went downtown, got drunk and started a fight with the wrong individual...who just completely annihilated the two of them. These guys were regular customers at several Polizei stations, and finally the cops put their foot down and told the Army to get rid of them. We couldn't "get rid of them right now" because it was the weekend, but on Monday they were shipped out. It's surprising just how fast the Army can move if they have to.

So I called my captain and my captain called the colonel (a REALLY good man) and the colonel had them move their beds to the dayroom (no mean feat - the dayroom was in the barracks) so they could be guarded 24-7 until they were sent home.

"Oh... that was, um... that was... that was the time that I spent giving $20 blowjobs to strangers at the truck stop in order to support my meth habit."

(sighs, relieved) "Oh, WHEW! Heh heh... We were afraid you might have been working for the Trump administration during this time. But that explains it, though. Thank goodness!"

"Ha ha ha. The Trump administration! How silly!" (laughs nervously)

End scene.
