McConnell says it's just not 'appropriate' to help people

Instead, McConnell's bill helps corporations who don't protect their workers.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Tuesday it was "appropriate" that his proposed coronavirus relief legislation would not include stimulus checks for millions of Americans.
When asked by reporters if his bill would include stimulus checks, McConnell said, "no it doesn't" and justified the omission, noting, "We thought about $500 billion was appropriate at this juncture."
McConnell's so-called "skinny" proposal does not include aid for ailing state governments, extended unemployment benefits, or individual stimulus checks. But it does include liability protection for corporations.
The legislation passed by House Democrats on Oct. 1, by contrast, includes $600 per week in added unemployment benefits, another round of $1,200 stimulus checks, and $436 billion in aid for state and local governments who are suffering through the pandemic.

(111,352 posts)I really hope this is getting a lot of airplay in Kentucky. McConnell has been a bad habit there for too damned long. It's one that needs to be broken right now.
He's poisoned our government for quite long enough, thanks.

But upon reading this, I am sorely tempted to bite another bullet and send Amy a couple more Benjamins; I'm just afraid it won't do any good. There is simply no justice in a universe in which Jesse Helms Lite keeps getting re-elected.

(17,331 posts)because of coronavirus and feels like Moscow Mitch could have helped him but chose to help the
richest americans instead, has him in his sights. Repugs love shooting their guns and donnie
dotard seems to be encouraging it although he wants only Democrats in the cross-hairs. Repugs
are crossing over to vote for Joe, we could see them cross over for revenge for not helping them
out during this difficult time. I don't want to see him killed, I want to see him in prison.

(6,569 posts)If you care about your country, you'll dump this pile of sh*t. He doesn't care about YOU. Dump him and his wife.
What kind of "stimulus" package is it if you don't get something with which to work? A stimulus package only for business won't help you put food on the table. At the very least, you could take it and put food on the table.
And, it's not like they couldn't do both, you know. They just won't--because of Turtle Man. McConnell is obstructive and stands in the way of getting the country back on its feet.
Kentucky, show McConnell the results of your OWN stimulus package--dump him and move forward without him.
