"High probability" Trump will release 60 Minutes interview before it airs Sunday, White House says
Source: CNN
White House chief of staff Mark Meadows said there is a high probability that President Trump will release an interview he did with 60 Minutes before it airs Sunday, and accused journalist Lesley Stahl of acting more like an opinion journalist.
He didn't walk out, Meadows told Fox Business on Wednesday. I mean, the characterization of that he spent over 45 minutes with Lesley Stahl. I've looked at every single minute of the interview and then some. We have tape of every single minute.
Listen, he continued, when you have a 60 Minutes reporter, they should be a reporter not an opinion journalist. And she came across more like an opinion journalist.
Asked if the President would release the video before its scheduled to air Sunday, as he threatened to do on Twitter, Meadows said there's a high probability.

(7,516 posts)CBS is quaking in their boots. Thats the last thing they want, nonstop promotion of 60 Minutes leading up to the Sunday broadcast.
They hate that Don T. will be mentioning the 60 Minutes interview Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on every media outlet in the world.
Now you have to wonder if the whole walking out on the interview wasnt because he soiled his diapers, as some are saying, but because it was staged. The whole walking-out thing was staged some people are saying.
Im not saying anything. But I will pop some popcorn because I enjoy the Trump Steps In It Show more than anything right now.

(3,334 posts)Then more people will watch 60 Minutes to compare the two. I also think that after 60 Minutes plays the interview they will show, if any, any discrepancies.

(29,246 posts)Smart people always record themselves being recorded. It is generally SOP. Which is why I am surprised Trump's minions thought to do it.

(23,371 posts)White House's version will paint donnie as a victim of Lesley Stahl so he was justified in walking out.
When 60 mins airs the real question donnie got mad about not answering, the difference in the videos
will be like night and day shining light on how dishonest they are. Hope it's a big Oct. surprise. GOTV

(25,959 posts)I'm sure there was a contract signed, so I hope they immediately file a lawsuit against him if he does this, maybe restraint of trade and/or breaking a contract? I also think it will impact him badly from a PR perspective. He was so weak he couldn't handle her and walked off in a childish fit of rage will be the story on this. He won't come out looking good, not one little bit. I doubt he will really do this, but their idiocy just seems to be growing, the closer we get to the election.

(9,446 posts)Is that Trump wants ZERO pushback from reporters. Ever. He wants to be able to lie and propagandize without challenge, and preferably with fawning deference ala Faux news.

(14,610 posts)I don't know how they can legally use any footage, but it seems that they think they can. If so, they will create their own heavily edited piece that takes questions and answers out of context. Make it look like the journalist was badgering Trump. And make Trump look like he's trying to be reasonable.
Don't want to give them any ideas, but by doing that, it may discourage any of those Republicans that were on the fence into thinking that they don't need to watch the whole, actual interview anymore. And so the only ones watching will be those who won't vote for him anyways.

(34,407 posts)they have spliced into their campaign ads, I can't imagine what they'll do. They're so quick with their pranks, but they always seem to get caught way too fast. If they do mess with it, 60 mins. could have a field day with it.

(1,789 posts)If just complained about the interview he could portray it as anything he wants until it comes out. He will wind up releasing it showing that there was nothing but tough questions that he can't handle.
