Coronavirus cases have surged across the United States in recent days, overwhelming hospitals that serve rural communities.
Coronavirus-related hospitalizations are up by at least 5% in 37 states, CNBC said in an analysis published Monday. Now, doctors in many areas are left scrambling to find patient beds as cases jump, according to multiple news outlets.
For Upland Hills Health in Wisconsin, doctors for the first time arent able to bring patients to bigger hospitals, CBS News reported.
There have been situations where theyve said, Well, we dont really have any ICU beds available, so youre going to have to continue to care for this patient, Dr. Sarah Fox told the news outlet.

(1,568 posts)Spent a week in rural Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri last week. Only really saw masks in Joplin and employees in restaurants (drive through!) or the grocery store. Two gas station stops in Parsons Kansas - no masks from anyone but us. And they glared at us like we are lepers.

Have family/friends in the Joplin area, it's a shame that so many are being reckless.
