ASHWAUBENON - Former Democratic presidential contender Pete Buttigieg stopped in the Green Bay area Thursday to stump for Joe Biden, blaming President Donald Trump's response to the coronavirus pandemic for the plight of small businesses and a gutted economy.
The former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, joined Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich and Hinterland Brewery owners Michelle and Bill Tressler to discuss the pandemic's economic impact. He characterized Biden as the candidate best equipped to help the country recover.
We shouldnt have to settle for the worst outcomes and the worst performance of any country in the developed world," Buttigieg said at the brewery.
By visiting Ashwaubenon, Buttigieg found himself in a region with one of the highest COVID-19 infection rates in the country. Buttigieg's visit came less than two weeks before a presidential election in which Wisconsin is expected to play a pivotal role. The Green Bay media market is particularly competitive, and both campaigns have flooded the airwaves with ads as Biden aims to win back voters that overwhelmingly went for Trump in 2016.......................
