Democrats force closed door session to delay Amy Coney Barrett confirmation

Senate Republicans and Democrats are fighting until the bitter end over the upcoming confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court bench. The heated discussion came to a froth Friday afternoon when Democrats demanded a closed session. It only takes one senator to offer to move into closed session and another to second it for the process to occur.

“I believe the Senate majority is on the precipice of making a colossal and historic mistake,” Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-NY) said as he moved to close the Senate Friday afternoon. Schumer added that the “damage to Americans’ faith in these institutions could be lasting, so before we go any further, we should shut off the cameras, close the Senate and talk face-to-face about what this might mean for the country.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was already taking steps forward in an effort to finalize Barrett’s confirmation to the Supreme Court Monday evening.

The Democrats’ argument that tens of millions of Americans have already voted seemed to fall on deaf ears. With just under two weeks until the GOP stands to potentially lose the White House and the Senate, Republicans are not holding Barrett’s confirmation back – and they have the votes.

What grand karma it would be if he were unable to finish this task prior to Nov. 3.

Get the fingernails in and hang on. One thing about 2020 is you never know from moment to moment which way the wind is gonna blow.

putting this wretched woman on the supreme court will ruin it until she leaves. I don't have good will for her or mcconnell or any r that is ignoring the will of the people and acting like thugs. And don't expect me to accept this ravaging. I have no doubt this amoral woman will sit on that bench. But I will not accept her judgement on any case, ever, and if I can do anything to subvert her rulings, I will do it, just as r's are subverting the U.S. Constitution to gain their ends. Consequences.

Staffers can't tell if you are a constituent by your cell phone number since people move all the time but keep the same number. Call GOP senators and tell them no reelection for them!

I called 12 GOP senators and only one had a full mailbox. I have called them a lot and when I can leave a message I know no one is calling. Please call, even the GOP senators not from your state. The GOP plays dirty, so don't worry about a small lie, this is extremely important. Please call!

First, Gary Johnson voters also came disproportionately from Hillary. He took more votes from her than Stein did.

Second, none of this would have mattered had it not been for the antics of James Comey. He dominated that election from start to finish.

once we win this election. And that means expand the SC. I know Joe is talking about making this issue the law of the land but we ALL know how dirty the GOP is - they have planted their judges all over the country and they will do everything in their power to take away a woman's right to make decisions over her own body. We must expand the SC, or we will be running on a gerbil wheel for the next four years +.

We should NEVER, EVER forget what they did during the Obama presidency. Even when they were in the minority they used every dirty trick they could to stop our attempts at moving this country ahead and providing for ALL Americans.

Think back, on the night President Obama was elected, MM had a dinner with his partners in crime where they decided to oppose EVERYTHING that the Democrats brought forward, and they pledged to make President Obama a "one term President".

And by God, they did that as much as they could for EIGHT SOLID YEARS.

We must NEVER, EVER, FORGET.
