WAUKESHA (WKOW) -- President Trump is not letting the coronavirus get in his way in hopes of winning Wisconsin after he hosted his second rally in the battleground state in the last week.
In Waukesha, President Trump held a rally at Stein Aircraft Services with thousands of supporters in attendance, many without masks, despite the state ranking one of the worst in the country, shattering COVID-19 records for the number of positive cases, hospitalizations, and deaths.
As of Saturday, the state recorded 4,062 positive cases, 25 deaths, and 199 people were newly-hospitalized, according to the latest numbers from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
President Trump is not taking Wisconsin for granted, just as he didn't in 2016, making multiple trips to the Badger state in the final days of the 2020 campaign.

Trump is continuing to take advantage of the loose rules in WI courtesy of the Wisconsin right wing supreme court and holding yet another tightly packed indoor rally in Wisconsin. This is not only causing spike in COVID in Wisconsin, but neighboring states are starting to see case increases, though not with positivity yet seen in WI.

As US coronavirus cases begin to climb again for the third time this year and after being hospitalized after testing positive for Covid-19 himself President Donald Trump continues to eschew basic public health facts, instead choosing to push a false narrative that the US is at long last coming around the corner when it comes to the coronavirus.
That particular line, that the US is rounding the metaphorical pandemic corner, is one Trump falls back on with some regularity as of Friday, 28 times in the last 46 days, according to Forbess Andrew Solender but its just not true.
In reality, the US reported its third-highest single-day case count ever on Friday 70,451 new cases, according to the New York Times. And many states, including both Dakotas, Idaho, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, to name just a few, are reporting all-time high daily case numbers.
Nonetheless, Trump held a pair of crowded campaign rallies in Michigan and Wisconsin on Saturday. Despite the surge in cases, there were no visible social distancing measures in place, and many attendees did not wear masks.

(2,958 posts)Did my grocery shopping on Saturday night while the rally was going on. Enough food to keep me going for a week, so I don't have to return and mingle with possible carriers.
I'm a contrarian, as I never believe all these rallies are super-spreader events (except for Sturgis). This time, I'll be watching the case rate for the surrounding red counties and compare against the state rate. Stay tuned for further details.
