NYPD officer suspended after promoting Trump on police loudspeaker

A New York City police officer was suspended without pay Sunday for promoting President Trump's reelection campaign from a loudspeaker while on patrol over the weekend.

Talia Jane, a Brooklyn-based freelance reporter, tweeted that a squad car was blaring "Trump 2020" from the officer's vehicle in Flatbush Saturday night. Jane said she was sent a video of the officers in the vehicle also shouting the chant.

“They stopped when someone started filming but couldn’t resist one more,” she tweeted.

Jane retweeted a second video from another Twitter user that showed the police vehicle promoting Trump from the loudspeaker.

The president of Police Benevolent Association, the union that represents NYPD patrol officers, had previously endorsed Trump.

It's part of their cult thing, the end justifies the means...... they believe it's not only their right but their duty to break whatever rules or laws get in their way to promote their Dear Leader.

1) Suspended without pay (immediately, as the article points out)... But for how long? A day? A months? Ten minutes?

2) Was this officer alone in the vehicle? Was there another officer in the vehicle? Did they object? Did they participate? Did they say nothing? And what is their punishment?

vs the usual "put on paid administrative leave and/or desk duty pending 'investigation'", was a major step in the right direction IMHO.

8. They don't get fired for brutality. This is nothing compared to beating someone.

It's more realistic to think he could be demoted and retrained. But, I doubt they'll discipline him at all.

We live in the era of the smartphone and at any given moment, your behavior could be recorded. Yet so many persist in behavior that could get them fired or even prosecuted. The behavior is bad enough, but the stupidity is stunning.
