JUST IN: Fox News President and Several Top Anchors Advised to Quarantine After Being Exposed to Covid on Flight to Debate.
Several big names at Fox News Channel have been advised to quarantine after a fellow passenger on a private charter flight from New York City to Nashville for the presidential debate tested positive for Covid, including Fox News Media President Jay Wallace, chief political anchor Bret Baier, anchor of The Story Martha MacCallum, and two of the hosts of The Five, Dana Perino and Juan Williams.
The news was broken late Sunday evening by the New York Times, reporting that everyone who was on the flight has been advised to get tested and to quarantine.
Fox News has not publicly confirmed the story, citing the need to protect confidential personal health information, but the networks affected anchors are reportedly making plans to host their shows from their homes this week.
As the Times noted, while some of Foxs on-air commentators have not always treated the coronavirus like the serious and potentially fatal illness that it is, the networks operations have shown a serious dedication to precautionary measures during this pandemic, including diligent use of face masks, avoiding close proximity to each other, and regular testing of staff members.

(1,652 posts)The way the article is written is confusing. The four anchors and president of Fox News Media (and everyone else on the flight) were asked to quarantine because there was an infected person on the plane. It was a private charter but doesn't mention the infected passenger being at the debate, he or she could have just been on the flight.

(15,031 posts)it's uncertain if they are, of course, hence the need to quarantine.

(1,652 posts)before the debate to let the virus replicate enough to become contagious by the debate, then yes. The story doesn't say how long they were there, but if they went back the same day or next day then probably they would not have been contagious at the debate, though they could be infected and presymptomatic (or infected and never to develop symptoms).
This article says you wouldn't become contagious within 24 hours and they think it takes a few days to start shedding virus (of course, much is still unknown).

I thought they were all already broadcasting from home anyway.

(1,641 posts)Given the lies they've told about Covid-19 and getting people infected and fucking killed in the process.
They've got blood on their hands and now they're going to pay for it, due to their OWN actions.
I give zero fucks.

(6,917 posts)How convenient, who would expect them to fly on commercial airlines? Keeping talent from the unwashed multitudes on Delta Airlines wont keep them virus-free if the private jet is incubating the virus.
