Roughly one-third of mail-in ballots are being rejected in Tarrant County

Source: Dallas Morning News

Roughly one-third of Tarrant County’s mail-in ballots are getting rejected by ballot scanners due to illegible bar codes by the printing company, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram first reported.

The blunder could affect as many as 20,000 ballots, but every valid vote ultimately will be counted properly, Tarrant County Election Administrator Heider Garcia told the Tarrant County Commissioners Court Tuesday morning.

If that means setting up a new system where someone has to key in a number by hand and a new barcode is stuck on an envelope before it can be processed, or something similar, it's not going to get done for many by election night. And that could make the difference between a Trump lawsuit to halt counting that dodgy courts could allow, and one that says "we should go back and disallow some that have already been counted" for some other spurious reason, which they could find harder to justify.

say they are still being counted. The SCANNER is rejecting them. That does not mean they are being rejected and not counted.

Tarrant County is reliably red. I’m not sure Democrats would be hurt by this problem. Not that we want to disenfranchise Republicans, just saying.
