Trump's pitch to women on coronavirus recovery: 'We're getting your husbands back to work'

In an appeal to female voters one week before Election Day, President Trump promised to get "husband's back to work" as part of economic recovery efforts directed toward states rebounding from the coronavirus pandemic.

"Your husbands, they want to get back to work," Trump said during a campaign rally in Lansing, Michigan on Tuesday. "We're getting your husband's back to work. And everybody wants it."

Most polls show Trump lagging with women behind Democratic nominee Joe Biden particularly in suburban areas — a voting bloc largely responsible for the so-called "blue wave" which helped Democrats regain control of the House in 2018.

A survey in September found suburban women cited Trump's mishandling of the coronavirus as a key reason they plan to vote against him in this year's presidential

Much of Trump's "base" consists of Fundie weirdos of various sorts - most of whom view women as (at best) second-class citizens, and (more frequently) as essentially domestic drudges and breeding-machines.

Just think about the Christian denominations most likely to get butt-hurt over "Darwinism" and/or female clergy.

Sadly, this particular socially-sanctioned psychosis isn't confined to the former Confederacy, either - "Pennsylvania Dutch" country is afflicted with Amish and Mennonites - who are just about the most sexist (not to mention homophobic) folks you could ever find.
