Governor, top lawmakers agree: No Kansas mask rule for now

Source: KMBC

TOPEKA, Kan. --

Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly and top Republican legislators agreed Tuesday to try for now to encourage Kansas counties to adopt local mask mandates rather than consider a statewide rule as the state experiences its biggest surge in new coronavirus cases of the pandemic.

Kelly had a private Zoom meeting with eight leaders of the GOP-controlled Legislature, six of them Republicans, and participants said afterward that they discussed encouraging greater mask use. The state health department reported Monday that the state's rolling seven-day average for new cases set a record of 815 a day for the seven days ending Monday.

Kelly issued a statewide mask mandate July 2, but a state law enacted only the month before allowed the state's 105 counties to opt out, and most did. The Democratic governor said last week that she wanted to work with top Republican lawmakers on a bipartisan mandate to require people to wear masks in public.

Everyone accepted mandates to not smoke in public places because smoking endangered other people as well as the person smoking, wearing a mask is pretty much the same. tRump has made mask wearing a political issue and now the entire country is suffering because of it.

Now Covid is EXPLODING in those Counties. Some are reporting over 500 cases per day for Counties that have very very small populations.

The thing is that POS Republicans in the State Legislature can play all the games they want but a local Company like Walmart can just ignore them and make it mandatory that you wear a mask or don't darken our door.

to play in KC, if the US/Canada border remains closed.
NBA is planning to start the season in December. Raptors won't be interested in going to a Covid-infested city where there is no mask mandate. What are the mask rules in Missouri?

GOP in my state is nutty and Dems have no power. Some of the ads they run here are crazy. I am glad I live where Sharice Davids is. Barbara Bolier has to run ads saying "Yes, vote for Trump but vote me for Senate." She has no choice to say this. She is portrayed as hard left liberal. She just changed party recently to run as Democrat. Only satifaction, my next door Missouri is nuttier and the southern friend Oklahoma is insane.
