Texas is now rated a 'toss-up' in the race between President Trump and Joe Biden

Texas, a GOP stronghold for more than four decades, now looks to be a neck-and-neck race between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden with just six days to go before Election Day.
The Cook Political Report, a widely followed and respected election-tracking operation that periodically issues ratings in presidential and congressional races, moved Texas on Wednesday from "Lean Republican" to its "Toss Up" column.
NBC News' own battleground map labeled Texas a toss-up state a day earlier.

While the polling is nice, it really does not reflect the obstacles to voting being placed by the Texas GOP such as preventing larger Texas counties from providing more ballot drop off locations, as well as the Trump administration screwing around with the mail. The only poll that counts are ballots that are cast and counted. This is why you have to try vote as early as you can and have a plan for voting.

(3,493 posts)I'll believe it when I see it (flip). On the bright side, if TX and FL become more reliably blue, then I see an avenue to get rid of the Electoral College and count all US citizen votes for President like we do for every other office. If Democratic presidential candidates start out with CA, NY, IL, TX and FL then I don't think there is a viable path for Republicans to win via the Electoral College.
