Elections officials reported Monday that two men were set up outside an Arapahoe County building in Littleton filming people as they dropped off their ballots in the drop box, and one of the men had a gun in a holster at his side.
The men were standing within 100 feet of the ballot box in Littleton and some voters said they felt intimidated, according to Arapahoe County Elections Director Peg Perl. Police were called to respond to the incident, as first reported by CPR. The Colorado Secretary of States Office referred the report to the attorney generals office for investigation.
The report comes at a time when voters across the nation have expressed concerns about voter intimidation tactics. Colorado elections officials have previously said they havent found any evidence of intimidation at polling sites, but they assured voters they take reports seriously. The attorney general did find evidence of voter intimidation at a Fort Morgan mobile home park in October.
Some of voters fears were heightened after the president called for his supporters to go watch the polls for potential fraud. The 2020 election sparked more interest from Coloradans in both parties to sign up to become poll watchers. However, in Colorado, there are statutes that regulate who can be an official poll watcher. Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold said people cant just show up and go into the polls without going through the states protocols, including training.

(13,023 posts)They will make a lot of noise but can't do anything. Best you take videos, as i'm assuming you did the video or someone else did,
and report it to the authorities. Luckily when we voted first day of early voting here we had a peaceful turnout. We cannot let up and be afraid of a bunch of rabid people get to us. Fear is what they're trying whip up so Americans don't show up to vote. If we don't show up we will lose our democracy

The same person returning to vote over and over?
They check skin color, and maybe gender.

But then, I am a rather bad-tempered senior who does not suffer fools, gladly or otherwise.

(32,596 posts)The voters have already cast their votes, they weren't stopped before handing in their ballots. Nobody has violated election privacy that I can see. When people attend Chump rallies and their faces are shown on video, nobody complained about voter intimidation, because it wasn't.
If voters are having a problem with privacy violation, they should just wear a mask when they hand in their ballot. Or when they go to vote in person. Most states have required masks to be worn at the polls this year anyway.

(5,092 posts)but as you mention, it is so moot as to be laughable. I could care less if they had an arsenal of guns. Hell, I would ask the group to pose with them so I could get a few pics of how certain segments of the population went insane during the election, just to be tagged and recorded so there FBI can decide if there was anything amiss in their actions. (There is plenty amiss, but you have to have proof).

(32,626 posts)dropping off a ballot, or waiting to vote, or voting, or leaving, but I can imagine how I'd feel about it. Two guys, one with a gun, filming me? I don't know this country any more. It's just fine to do anything you want, as long as you're a white male who loves Trump.

(32,596 posts)Every time I drive through a turnpike toll booth, even after I paid, my photo is taken. Every time I walk into most retail stores, even walking around those stores, my photo is taken. Parking lots like shopping mall lots, take our photo whether we are parking or walking. I'm sure there are hidden closed circuit cameras in airports, bus stations, train stations, and just about every public building these days.
Now in larger cities there are traffic cameras that snap photos of our cars and maybe the drivers, just to see if people are running red lights or making illegal left turns. Of course the bodycams that police are required to wear now have become big news. Anyone who interacts with police is on camera and recorded. It's all passive and it's happening everywhere.

(32,626 posts)you think that's the same thing as being filmed by strange men? When I go out of my house should it be just fine to see 2 men in a pick-up truck, filming me? I should not even be suspicious, because the neighbor down the street has security cameras?
