White House requests names of DOD staffers who applauded outgoing official so they can be fired

Source: Raw Story

White House officials are reportedly seeking to terminate some Department of Defense staffers because they applauded Acting Under Secretary for Policy Jim Anderson after he reportedly resigned.

Longtime conservative columnist Bill Kristol revealed that he had spoken with former DOD officials after Trump fired a large portion of the civilian leadership at the department.

As Anderson was leaving the building, staffers were said to have applauded the outgoing acting under secretary. White House officials who learned of the incident later demanded a list of those who had clapped for Anderson “so they could be fired,” Kristol said.

“A sign of the loyalty-oath atmosphere now at DOD: When Jim Anderson was fired yesterday as Acting Under Secretary for Policy, he was given a ‘clap-out’ as he left the building,” Kristol explained. “The [White House] called to request names of any political appointees who joined in so they could be fired.”

better than most agencies. Nobody will be fired for applauding. Trumpworld was stung badly by the tremendous publicized send-off Capt. Crozier received when he was relieved of command last spring, so they're lashing out now.

I'm not worried about being fired, even if I'd been there. The Schedule C's and the other political appointees who may have been there have to worry about that.

If North Korean citizens don't cry hard enough when a dear leader is buried, or cheer loud enough when in the presence of Kim Jong Un, there are watchers in the crowds and notes are taken and visits are paid. "Retraining" is often ordered, so that the citizenry knows the proper levels of emotion to express towards their leader.

Trump seems to have taken a page from the North Korean playbook.

So when people were afraid to stop clapping for Stalin, they had good reason.
Here is how the Nobel Prize-winning writer Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn described the surreal scene in his great book, The Gulag Archipelago:

“The applause went on—six, seven, eight minutes! They were done for! Their goose was cooked! They couldn’t stop now till they collapsed with heart attacks! At the rear of the hall, which was crowded, they could of course cheat a bit, clap less frequently, less vigorously, not so eagerly…Nine minutes! Ten!…Insanity! To the last man! With make-believe enthusiasm on their faces, looking at each other with faint hope, the district leaders were just going to go on and on applauding till they fell where they stood, till they were carried out of the hall on stretchers.”

At last, after eleven minutes of non-stop clapping, the director of a paper factory finally decided enough was enough. He stopped clapping and sat down—a miracle!
“To a man, everyone else stopped dead and sat down,” Solzhenitsyn says.

That same night, the director of the paper factory was arrested and sent to prison for ten years. Authorities came up with some official reason for his sentence, but during his interrogation, he was told: “Don’t ever be the first to stop applauding!”

Maybe the people who were supposed to count the "clappers" can say there were too many to count.
