Rep. Max Rose concedes to GOP challenger Nicole Malliotakis in NYC congressional upset

Source: Daily News

Rep. Max Rose conceded his first race for reelection to Republican challenger Nicole Malliotakis on Thursday, putting New York City’s only congressional battleground district back under GOP control.

Malliotakis declared victory on election night last week, but Rose initially refused to back down, citing thousands of outstanding mail-in ballots cast in the race for the 11th congressional district, which covers all of Staten Island and a sliver of Southern Brooklyn.

As ballots continued to be tallied Thursday afternoon, though, Rose acknowledged he no longer had a path to victory.

“I have called to congratulate Congresswoman-elect Malliotakis on her win and concede the race," Rose said in a statement. “Representing this district has been the honor of my life ... I love Staten Island and Brooklyn."

They were the most vicious, ugly, vile republicrap I've seen in a long time. Harkened back to Dukakis fear ads.

This is actually my district, so I was bombarded with them. He defended himself well and attacked her back though, with his “ Nicole Malliotakis is a fraud fraud fraud” ads. Highly memorable.

the university where I teach. However, if you ask anybody about her, nobody knows anything.

This same idiot university gave Christie a consulting contract after his term was over.

Look at the totality of his record, and not the pundits of all sorts picking and choosing tiny snippets of his record to comment on. Speaking of values: he is one of the few House Democrats who openly advocated a single payer health system before it became the "it" thing.

14. He had the right ammo pointed at the right people to win his district. And he won two years ago.

By itself, an unbelievable accomplishment in an overwhelmingly conservative district. He lost because Republicans succeeded in painting him to be too far to the left, not because Democrats painted him to be too far to the right.

All those folks that carried Defund The Police signs played a big part in our Congressional losses
