Trump Floats Improbable Survival Scenarios as He Ponders His Future
Source: New York Times
He then proceeded to press them on whether Republican legislatures could pick pro-Trump electors in a handful of key states and deliver him the electoral votes he needs to change the math and give him a second term, according to people briefed on the discussion.
It was not a detailed conversation, or really a serious one, the people briefed on it said. Nor was it reflective of any obsessive desire of Mr. Trumps to remain in the White House.
He knows its over, one adviser said. But instead of conceding, they said, he is floating one improbable scenario after another for staying in office while he contemplates his uncertain post-presidency future.

Trump and family MUST be held accountable for their assorted and sordid crimes, or the big takeaway for like minded tin pot dictators here and elsewhere would be that if you're rich or popular enough you get away scot-free. Riding into the sunset unpunished and unrepentant for your evil deeds.
Lock 'em (all) up.

(9,897 posts)That piece of shit has damaged so many families (including my own) through this hideous mismanagement of COVID-19 that he owes a debt of suffering that can never be repaid. But we can sure as hell try to get some justice for the departed and their grieving families.
Fuck you Trump, I hope you rot in Hell.

(2,227 posts)The SC has already ruled that the elections, and how they are run, are a STATE matter, and if a state is ok with voter suppression and gerrymandering, so be it.
It would take repubussian state legislatures seconds to jump on this train. And if they think it would work, they will.
It is his last ditch effort. The question is how many will go along...
But... Are there any legislatures that are controlled by democrats, yet the state voted for the turd? Couldn't those democratic legislatures do the same thing?
Regardless, be prepared.
edit to add... What was I thinking? Democrats refuse to play by the same rules republicans play by. We MUST take the high road, even if NO one else is using it, and it leads off a cliff. BUT we CAN sneer contemptuously as we walk around with our nose in the air. As losers.

(7,911 posts)Thinks he's a brilliant businessman, but has had nothing but one failure after another in the 40+ years I've known him. He always has the next big deal in the works. He wasn't born rich, so naturally he never became rich. Now, in his late 70s, he's decided to launch a "worldwide foundation" to educate businesses on how to deal with a changing world. He's got this flashy website where he bills himself as some kind of world renowned philanthropist. He's so full of himself you wouldn't believe it if it weren't for the fact that you've seen it in Trump.
He'll talk you ear off for hours at a time about how he's going to change the world. I'm his age and happily retired, but he's going to save the world, just like he was going to do 40 years a go when I first knew him. But the strange thing is, he's a really likeable guy. I enjoy his company. But he's as big a delusional narcissist as Trump. But still, a nice guy.
In a way I feel sorry for him, and I suppose that in a way I might also feel sorry for Trump if he hadn't done so much damage with his delusions.

(7,454 posts)He never really wanted to be President. He wanted the prestige and the perception of power, and the sycophants. He discovered he can use the position to protect himself, which is a problem, because being someone who never thinks scenarios out, he is now in the position of losing that protection.
Usually at this point, he'd pay some folks some hush money, declare victory and move on to the next scam. But he can't do that this time....
