Two senior Homeland Security officials forced out as White House firings widen

The White House has forced out two top Department of Homeland Security officials as part of a widening purge of anyone suspected of lacking complete loyalty to President Trump, three people familiar with the removals said Thursday.
Valerie Boyd, the top official for international affairs at DHS, was asked for her resignation, as well as Bryan Ware, a senior policy aide at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. The requests came from the White Houses Presidential Personnel Office, whose 30-year-old director, John McEntee, has recently intensified efforts to purge appointees who have failed to demonstrate sufficient fealty to the president.
Theyre looking for complete loyalty, and someone with experience serving different administrations is not perceived as sufficiently loyal, said one person who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the moves, referring to Boyds previous roles in the George W. Bush and Obama administrations. ... Boyd, in a resignation letter obtained by The Washington Post, wrote to DHS acting secretary Chad Wolf that she hopes government officials will act with honor during the transition to a new presidency. Boyd declined to comment Thursday.

Ware declined to comment on the terms of his departure when reached Thursday night, saying: Im proud of the work that I did. Im proud of what the agency accomplished and proud to have had the privilege to serve the country. ... A White House spokesman declined to comment, as did CISA spokeswoman Sara Sendek. DHS did not respond to requests for comment Thursday.

(47,427 posts)A lot of fascist words and phrases came out of the Bush administration, often sounding like something out of 1984. Homeland Security was probably the worst.

(34,136 posts)After all, naming Nixon's purge of special prosecutors being named the Saturday Night Massacre brought people's attention to his abuses of power and helped turn the tide against him. We need a good name for how Trump is purging our most important defense and intelligence agencies of anyone not willing to kiss his ass.

Perhaps she still keeps track or maybe it became overwhelming.

(36,053 posts)The list tells us of future priorities of the Republican Party and any new Fifth Column subversions they'll play.
I know in my heart that their goal is the Big Corp capture of this democracy and the total control of the nation's means of production -- FASCISM.
Republicans are the Fascist Party of America.

Not a bad idea during a raging pandemic.
Joe will hire you back in January. The only assholes who are ASSURED of unemployment are the pricks who are loyal to...
A FUCKING TRAITOR.

(47,427 posts)It would be cool if Joe's transition team was in contact with these people to reassure them that they will have a job in January.
Meanwhile, this purge is probably the most petty, vindictive thing we've seen Trump do, well at least that we know about. It sounds like Trump wants to leave a President Biden with a crippled, dysfunctional government just out of spite.

(8,308 posts)If hes been there for 30 years he has obviously worked for different admins. Yet someone said that anyone with experience serving different administrations is not perceived as sufficiently loyal. What exactly did he have to do to prove his loyalty? Hmmm, maybe I dont want to know the answer to that.

(57,439 posts)John David McEntee II (born May 9, 1990) is an American political advisor and former athlete who serves as the Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office in the Trump Administration. McEntee was asked to take on the role of body man and personal aide to the President shortly after Trump was elected. He was unable to obtain a security clearance and was dismissed in March 2018 amid allegations of gambling debts and financial crimes, but immediately took up a position as a senior advisor to Trump's 2020 reelection campaign. McEntee controversially returned to working in the White House, becoming the Director of the Office of Presidential Personnel in February 2020. Controversy increased when Trump assigned McEntee the task of identifying for removal political appointees and career officials who are insufficiently loyal, a task that aligns with the President's focus on acting against actual and perceived disloyalty.
Prior to working in the White House Office, McEntee was the starting quarterback for the UConn Huskies football team.

(36,053 posts)The transition between first and second terms is traditionally a time when presidents who win re-election accept resignations and switch out their teams.
Trump thinks this will be his new mafia rule team when he wins the election.

(45,438 posts)Biden takes office in about 10 weeks so are they planning to sow chaos in the meantime? Do as much damage as possible so the new administration is bogged down fixing it, or something more nefarious?

(47,427 posts)Leaving a Biden administration with an unfriendly, broken government, just to be spiteful. There is no bottom to Trump's vindictiveness.

(9,988 posts)But Biden has been around Washington a long time. He will have new agency heads ready to go on Day 1. He can appoint them all as acting and then see if Moscow Mitch refuses to allow the Senate to confirm. If not, they can remain as acting and their titles can change slightly to give them more time as acting before someone has to be confirmed. Trump has done this for four years.
I'm quite sure Biden already has much of this planned. He knows what he's up against and has been in DC long enough to know what to do AND who to call.
ancianita
(36,053 posts)That would end the Fifth Column's work (the GOP) and begin the corporate control of both government (in which the GOP continues as Big Corp's wholly owned subsidiary) and the means of production. That's Fascism -- advanced capitalism -- owning everyone and everything that provide wealth.
Biden and the Democratic Party are out-planning them all.

It would be naive to think that all these firings are just revenge for some kind of past perceived slight. I'm tellin' ya, Trump is planning some kind of illegal power grab.
I'm glad General Milley has publicly stated that the military isn't going along with whatever horseshit Trump tries to pull.
