Pro-Trump Wisconsin Lawyers Spike Election Lawsuit on Morning of Court Hearing

Source: Law and Crime

When filing their federal lawsuit in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Republican lawyers hoping to block certification of the vote in a state that outgoing President Donald Trump lost wrote in their complaint that “evidence will be shortly forthcoming.” That never happened. Their legal team voluntarily dismissed their baseless voter fraud allegations hours before oral arguments had been scheduled to occur on Monday morning.

Wisconsin voter Michael Langenhorst, the lead plaintiff in the action, did not explain his sudden about-face in his notice of dismissal.

His attorney Michael Dean did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment. Declining comment was Dean’s co-counsel at the plaintiffs’ table: James Bopp, Jr., a powerful Republican attorney behind the Citizens United v. FEC—the Supreme Court decision that weakened campaign finance law and fueled the rise of super PACs.

“Sorry because of atty client privilege and because I do not telegraph my next moves, I cannot comment,” Bopp wrote in an email.

what is the purpose of all these frivolous legal attacks................

If they are merely a diversion, what are they trying to accomplish that they need time to execute????????
It frightens me to even speculate what is coming our way........

and then hopefully delay until they could find any evidence....but when none of that evidence surfaced they figured they'd just ask for dismissal (not sure why though, I'm sure they could have gone to court and bilked the trump campaign for some big money)

for frivolous litigation per Rule 11 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, which would be both embarrassing and expensive, as well as operating as a deterrent for any more of this nonsense. And they didn't want that to land on them.

These lawyers had an obligation to inform their client that the lawsuits have no merit, and a further obligation to not waste everyone's time and money with ridiculous legal suits.

For trump and republicans there is no down side.

They can fund raise and the suits aren’t getting funded personally. Trump the “billionaire” could afford this out of pocket. He can’t but he can raise money and some goes to the RNC.

The ongoing lies about fraud fuel resentment. Resentment will drive turn out in the Georgia runoffs and in the midterms and some will carry over to 2024. They can’t imagine that resentment being turned against themselves through primaries or a third party. The violence will happen to other people.

Something might catch on. Keep on digging and maybe get the right case before the Supreme Court and hope for a favorable ruling. I don’t think that will happen, but if trump concedes there’s no chance.

Reasons against continuing like fairness, uniting the country, honor, patriotism mean nothing to republicans nor trump.

My understanding is they have big debts to pay, reason why they are coning their followers to help them pay for legal expenses, but the money is going to pay debts and I imagine to the con's pockets as well.

At least I don’t think so. No lawyer would trust these clowns with an IOU, so running out of money would stop the motions but not the fund raising.

The fund raising is already mostly going to paying campaign debt anyway. So a little noise in court is probably a net gain financially to the party.

Bankruptcy and debt are negative motivations to normal people. They’ve shown they care about neither. So long as cash flows they make money.

They dropped it despite the ridiculous fee potential. Judges are laughing in their faces then kicking their asses, while the opposition really doesn’t have to do much except to stay quiet and try not to gloat.

That’s a happy spot at the courthouse, for the opposition.

Nobody held a gun to Trump’s lawyers’ fat smug heads and said go make fools of yourselves. As with All Things Trump, they bring this shit on themselves.

morons lawyers fail to understand.

I think there is some seriously weird shit going down between barr and these lawyers.

I think barr actually believed that he could tie up the courts endlessly with this bullshit. but down in the trenches, the actual lawyers trying to present a case with no evidence probably thought, "trump/barr is not the hill I'm going destroy my career on".

Whatever happened to that? Why are lawyers not being made accountable?

"A lawyer shall not bring or defend a proceeding, or assert or controvert an issue therein, unless there is a basis in law and fact for doing so that is not frivolous, which includes a good faith argument for an extension, modification or reversal of existing law."
