Coronavirus: DeWine announces 21-day curfew starting Thursday

Source: Dayton Daily News

A curfew will begin Thursday in Ohio from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the next three weeks, Gov. Mike DeWine announced Tuesday.

... snip...

The curfew does not apply people going to and from work, anyone getting groceries or picking up takeout, going to the hospital or picking up medicine, DeWine said.

... snip...

Under the curfew, the governor said he doesn’t anticipate police pulling over motorists over after 10 p.m. But, if there’s a group of people hanging out at a park after 10 p.m., an officer might want to talk to them.

Violation of the curfew would be a second-degree misdemeanor, DeWine said.

DeWine is still a weasel, but this is an excellent decision. After three weeks, he'll re-evaluate the potential necessity of a shutdown.

... I prefer to walk with my Fitbit late at night when I'm less likely to encounter others.

My news source updated shortly thereafter, though, indicating it could only potentially affect people seen congregating during those hours. Whew!

I'll give him credit for at least respecting the science somewhat, unlike more extreme GOP governors elsewhere.

what good a curfew would do. I think we like to believe we have more control over this than we really do.
