Georgia secretary of state reveals Trump 'suppressed' GOP voters: 'He would have won by 10,000 votes
Source: WSBs Justin Gray
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on Tuesday said that President Donald Trump had himself to blame for losing the states electoral votes in the 2020 election.
Raffensperger told WSBs Justin Gray that 24,000 Republicans who voted by absentee ballot in the primary did not cast votes in the general election.
The secretary of state linked the lack of participation to Trumps effort to demonize mail-in voting.
He would have won by 10 thousand votes he actually suppressed, depressed his own voting base, Raffensperger said.

(17,387 posts)...for example, what were the net newly registered voters? In other words, did the presence of Trump on the ballot cause more racists to register and vote Republican? Likewise, how many Democrats who voted in the primaries did not vote in the general election perhaps due to the same voter suppression that the Republican SOS complains about?
In other words, while the GA SOS is right that voter suppression skews election results (or Republicans would not bother doing it), it is not necessarily true that Trump was the one that was hurt by it. Given that a lot of voter suppression is targeted toward urban areas, a better argument could be made that Biden would have won by a larger margin but for voter suppression.

(15,286 posts)It's not a given they would've been 100% for Trump which is what Rappensberger's assumption is (24000-14000=10000).

I also know it will only anger ("I should have won!" ) and embolden ("Let these people mail their ballots now!" ) We need the true will of the American people to be heard!" him.
Fasten seat-belts.

(22,800 posts)His opinion may be correct, but I doubt there is an concrete evidence that there is a cause and effect correlation between Trump's attack on mail-in voting and the loss of 10,000 Republican votes. Think about it.
