Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) said in an interview Wednesday that he thinks Republicans are waiting for President Trump to come to terms with his projected electoral defeat before acknowledging Joe Biden as president-elect.
"It's just a matter of a lot of people waiting out until, you know, the president comes to terms with this," Kinzinger said during an interview on CNN's "New Day" when asked about feedback from his GOP colleagues.
"Look, we all believe that every vote should count and we all believe that in this election, every lawsuit that's legitimate could be, you know, gone through," Kinzinger continued.
"But we have a tradition in this country of looking at the results, congratulating the president-elect, starting the transition process and going forward. ... That is essential to the passage and the strength and the survival of democracy," he added.

Why don't you and your colleagues give Trump a big group hug?
Better yet why don't you stage an intervention?

(12,712 posts)I am awaiting the inevitable explosions of narcissistic rage that are to come, especially after he wears out the legal options and has nothing better to do than to ruminate on "a fate worse than death" for a narcissist.
It would nice to dig a hole and jump into it until that's over.

(12 posts)Boy, what has become of the so-called Republican Party?
I'm waiting for the first one to come out and criticize tRump for his continued acting like he won the election and denying Joe Biden the ability to get his transition running. Instead we have all these weenies in tRump's party who are so afraid of tRump that they cower in their offices and spew Republican talking points. Grow a couple!
What an embarrassing time for America. I'll ask this question until I die...what the hell did 70 millions people see in this conman that they would vote for him?

He ain't ever going to come to grips with his loss.
The longer they wait, the worse it will be to get him out of the White House.
The truth is that they are scared shitless of Trump's base and are not about to puncture Trump's fantasy balloon.
When Trump finally dies, his last words will be about how he was robbed of victory by the Democrats and the fake news media.
The Republicans need to stage an intervention right now, and stop this shit before some of Trump's supporters do something awful.

Trump will never come to terms with this. He will piss and moan about it from now until he dies. Occasionally he'll throw a true conniption fit or other toddler-esqe meltdown, but he will never come to terms.
Trump will drag this sorry scene out for as long as he can get attention. Until January 20th he will get that attention by simpler power of the Oval Office.
If these fools think Trump will go along with transition in any way, they are the most gullible fools ever seen.
The GSA can certify the election. The House can vote on it too, all as normal. Trump is going to do everything possible to obstruct transition and set Biden up for as much failure as he can. And the GOP will silently stand by as it happens.

(24,614 posts)if he lives that long, blaming others for his loss. He will complain every day, he will encourage his worshipers to act recklessly, he will threaten, he will cajole, he will criticize. We are not rid of this asshole, nor are we rid of his idiot followers. He is in the process of wrecking the economy, our foreign policy, our standing in the world, our very health, and our livelihoods on his way out the door. He is a bitter, angry, petty, vindictive, hideous human being.
