GOP senators blast Trump's firing of election security official: 'A terrible mistake'

Source: ABC News

In a rare instance of breaking ranks, GOP senators on Wednesday roundly criticized President Donald Trump's firing of Chris Krebs, a top election security official who publicly contradicted his claims of voting fraud.

"I thought this was a terrible mistake," Susan Collins, R-Maine, said.

Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska was the first Republican to publicly criticize the president's move, doing so in a statement Tuesday night.

"Chris Krebs did a really good job — as state election officials all across the nation will tell you — and he obviously should not be fired,” Sasse said in a statement. “I’m particularly grateful for the work he did on the Cyber Solarium Commission to help the nation prepare for the future of war.”

Maine should be ashamed she was re-elected - I lost ALL respect for their 'supposedly 'Yankee" values.

I've taken that state off our bucket list of places to tour - usually spend around 5k to 6K om a typical long vacation - hope others will follow suit.

There are consequences.

Maine elected her to another 6 year term of "Concern."

She has nothing to worry about until 2026.

Take off her mask and she's Lindsey Graham underneath. Stands for nothing.

NOW, with two months to go, they meekly dare to criticize one thing Trump has done.

What about the past four years, and what about his ongoing incitement of violent action directed to his drooling followers?

This is to much. I just pray that our new AG goes after all these criminals. It’s not up to Joe. The AG should decide to investigate, find the goods, prosecute and toss them in jail. He’s OUR attorney.
