Florida's Rick Scott tests positive for coronavrius

Last edited Fri Nov 20, 2020, 11:47 AM - Edit history (1)

Source: Tampa Bay Times

U.S. Sen. Rick Scott has tested positive for coronavirus and is experiencing “very mild symptoms,” the Florida Republican announced Friday morning. Scott’s office believes he contracted the virus last Friday night when he came into contact with someone who later tested positive for COVID-19. After learning about the potential exposure, Scott went into quarantine at his Naples home Saturday morning.

Two rapid tests came back negative for COVID-19 but on Tuesday, Scott was administered a more accurate polymerase chain reaction screening, commonly referred to as a PCR test. That test result came back positive Friday morning. In a statement, Scott, 67, said he was “feeling good” and will continue to work from home until it is safe to return to Washington. The Senate is on recess until Nov. 30. “I want to remind everyone to be careful and do the right things to protect yourselves and others,” Scott said. “Wear a mask. Social distance. Quarantine if you come in contact with someone positive like I did.”

Scott has missed several key votes while in quarantine, including the successful confirmation of President Donald Trump’s controversial pick to serve in the Tampa division of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, 33-year-old attorney Kathryn Kimball Mizelle. Without Scott and Iowa’s Sen. Chuck Grassley, who also tested positive for coronavirus this week, Republicans couldn’t muster the support to confirm Trump’s nominee to the federal reserve, Judy Shelton. Her approval failed on a vote of 47-50. Democrats and several Republicans oppose Shelton because of her past support of a return to the gold standard and her writings that questioned the Fed’s political independence.

Throughout the pandemic, Scott has opposed mandatory mask mandates, telling Fox News in June that governments should “stop telling us what to do.” But Scott has been more vocal than other Republicans in encouraging people to follow public health guidance and he is often spotted in public wearing a mask. On Nov. 12, Scott wore a mask at an indoor campaign rally in Georgia for the states two Republican senators. He removed the mask to speak but then put it back on to take a selfie with Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, neither of whom wore a mask. Scott then briefly shook hands with supporters, and leaned into kiss one on the cheek through his mask.

Original story -

U.S. Sen. Rick Scott has tested positive for coronavirus and is experiencing “very mild symptoms,” the Florida Republican announced this morning.

Scott’s office said he was exposed to the virus after returning to Florida on Friday evening. Scott has missed several votes in Washington this week while in quarantine.

“After several negative tests, I learned I was positive this morning,” Scott said. “I am feeling good and experiencing very mild symptoms. I will be working from home in Naples until it is safe for me to return to Washington, D.C. I want to remind everyone to be careful and do the right things to protect yourselves and others. Wear a mask. Social distance. Quarantine if you come in contact with someone positive like I did. As we approach Thanksgiving, we know this holiday will be different this year. But, listen to public health officials and follow their guidance. We will beat this together, but we all have to be responsible. I want to thank all the incredible health care workers who are working around the clock to care for patients and I pray that by next Thanksgiving, COVID-19 will be a thing of the past.”

This is a developing story.

According to Chinese/Japanese medical face reading, when the white part of the eye, known as the sclera, is visible beneath the iris, it represents physical imbalance in the body and is claimed to be present in alcoholics, drug addicts and people who over-consume sugar or grain. Conversely, when the upper sclera is visible it is said to be an indication of mental imbalance in people such as psychotics, murderers, and anyone rageful. In either condition, it is believed that these people attract accidents and violence.[citation needed]

Crist used to be electable for statewide office, but no longer. That shows just how far right Florida has drifted.

I've spent time in FL and the greedy, midwestern retirees flock to the gulf coast from Naples to up to Sarasota has pushed Florida to the right. These people will vote against schools, screw the people who will be changing their diapers in a few years.

They will take any criminal.....Rick Scott, and the congressman from Sarasota, Vern Buchanan, etc....so long as they're anti-abortion and cut social spending. It's disgusting.

I went into Whole Foods in Sarasota for lunch, and as I'm waiting for sandwich, and in walks a bunch of college students, wearing "Buchanan for Congress" t-shirts. It was maybe '04 or '06.

Buchanan's website outlined his opposition to abortion, even in cases of rape or the mother's life! It angered me to see college women supporting this Buchanan monster.

So I started asking the women about the consequences of things that happen if Buchanan got his way....What would you do if a sexual assault left you pregnant, or your life was in danger, or your mother's life, etc. They all played stupid.

My parting shot to them went something like this...."Nope. Do you know WHY you've never thought this out? Because your Republican parents never taught you to think for yourselves.....that's why! And when you get into trouble....you'll do what you've always done...CALL DADDY." That really riled them up, so I guess it was direct hit.

You're spot on about Faux News, teabaggers and Limbaugh too. We are talking the same stuff. They get people to vote against their own interests.

They express similar traits and likes attract likes. And in many cases, when something DOES happen to them, they either -

1.) "disappear" never to be heard from again
2.) get even more belligerent and deny anything is wrong or it had to do with their behavior
3.) occasionally have a "Come to Jesus" moment and "get it" (but rarely)

Second, no one will learn a THING from this. If anything, it will bring a chorus of "See? The threat is overblown, and it's nothing to worry about."
