Michigan GOP leaders after White House meeting: 'We will follow the law'

Source: The Detroit News

Washington — Michigan’s top two legislative leaders vowed that the presidential candidate with the most votes will win the state's electoral votes after departing a Friday meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House.

With the eyes of the nation on them and criticisms flying from Democrats, seven Michigan lawmakers traveled to meet with Trump for about an hour. The visit came as supporters of the president have moved in recent days to overturn the results of the state's election, which Democratic President-elect Joe Biden won by more than 154,000 votes in unofficial returns.

"We have not yet been made aware of any information that would change the outcome of the election in Michigan and, as legislative leaders, we will follow the law and follow the normal process regarding Michigan’s electors, just as we have said throughout this election," House Speaker Lee Chatfield and Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey said after the meeting.

In a joint statement, Chatfield, R-Levering, and Shirkey, R-Clarklake, said they highlighted during the meeting their commitment to seeing "further federal dollars" appropriated for Michigan as the state deals with the COVID-19 pandemic

PA is a must for them. They are hoping to steal either MI or GA by "irregularities" and force the same thing in PA. But looking at the map and Electoral College votes, PA is a must and then either MI or GA.

They will file suit in GA for "Audits" and "Recounts". They will try to disrupt the certification in MI on monday. If they mange either plays then PA and they need one more. Probably AR though I don't know how they're going to try and get AR back.

Just like the tax code. The IRS interprets it, taxpayers sue to get around it. These outcomes are case law.

Donnie is trying to make the law leak like a sieve.

MI law specifically states the electors represent the party with the majority of votes. They would have to change MI state law to get this to work and that isn't going to happen. It's a last gasp, stupid effort by a dying president. The two STATE legislators just thought it would be cool to be called to Washington by the president. State legislators rarely get that kind of notice.

Hopefully they informed shit stain that with a Democratic governor, this is a fool's errand. Same for WI and PA. There's no way in hell they can push through a change in state law making this tactic even remotely possible. Even if they did go completely rogue and send a Rethuglican slate of electors to the electoral college in Dec. anyway, in violation of state law, the lawfully elected slate for MI would be there too. The rogue slate of electors wouldn't be recognized, since they weren't legally chosen.
