Trump's Pennsylvania Suit Puts Election in Limbo, Judge Told

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Omaha Steve (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: Bloomberg News

President Donald Trump’s bid for a court order blocking Pennsylvania from certifying its election result would imperil the votes of 6.8 million people based on “speculation and conjecture” about voter fraud without any evidence to back it up, the Democratic National Committee told a judge.

“It is telling that despite proclaiming to this court that they were prepared to present hundreds of affidavits and extensive evidence of misconduct, no such evidence can be found anywhere in what is now plaintiffs’ second motion for preliminary injunction,” lawyers for the DNC said in a filing Friday evening in federal court in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

U.S. District Judge Matthew Brann is simultaneously weighing the Trump campaign’s amended request for an injunction and Pennsylvania’s motion to dismiss the suit, which seeks to block certification unless the state tosses out tens of thousands of ballots that the campaign has claimed might be defective.

The Trump campaign’s request “threatens to throw into limbo the results of the 2020 Presidential Election for the entire country,” the DNC said. “The court should reject plaintiffs’ extraordinary and drastic request, and grant defendants’ motions to dismiss.”

If U.S. District Judge Matthew Brann rejects this attempt, would that give Trump the opportunity to send it to the SC for a decision?
Which I believe, all this half-assed bogus election challenging is where they're headed anyway. The SC is where Trump attys believe their best & only shot at giving Trump 4 more years resides.

They just have to build a case for the challenge.
As Bullshit as it is, that's what they've been doing.

Now I don't know if the SC would take the case or how they'd rule, but I believe this is the end game for all the wtf & insane game they have been playing.

They're creating a case to take to the SC. The RW dominated SC, with a couple of those judges seated by McConnell & Trump,.. who will be expecting to call in some favors.

Gdammitt!

He had cancelled the Thursday evidentiary hearing (probably due to the bullshit out of Ghoul's team) and the suggestion was that he might throw the case out.

The one issue that came up was that they kept amending and amending the case so am not sure if he waited to see whatever other crap they threw in so he could to do a comprehensive review/decision on the revised into and maybe try to make an appeal a bit harder to justify.

ETA - the OP article noted that the PA AG Josh Shapiro filed a case against the injunction for certification on Friday so that might be playing into the delay too.

And Shapiro also tweeted this -

Law Lesson: Presidential Electors

Here’s how it works in PA:
1️⃣
voters vote
2️⃣
counties count
3️⃣
Governor appoints electors
4️⃣
electors meet & cast their votes
5️⃣
legislators have no legal role

Here’s how it doesn’t work:

whatever Trump & Rudy say

Happy weekend.

but both were perpetrated by Republicans. One happened in Luzerne county where a son tried to get an absentee ballot for his deceased mother and the other where a man voted, then returned in a disguise to try vote impersonating his son. That last one was a new case Fetterman cited during his interview with Maddow Friday night.
