Some White House reporters seemed more baffled than usual on Tuesday after President Donald Trump delivered a minute-long press briefing in which he failed to mention that he had finally agreed to transition power to President-elect Joe Biden.
The surprise briefing was Trumps first in weeks. But instead of offering his concession, Trump boasted about the Dow Jones hitting the sacred number of 30,000 ― ignoring his previous claim that a Biden win would prompt a market crash. He then abruptly departed after 64 seconds, ignoring the torrent of questions from reporters about when he might acknowledge his loss.
Well that was weird as shit, one reporter is overheard commenting immediately after Trumps departure.
That was one of the stranger ones weve had, someone else noted.

(47,135 posts)from a STAR TREK TOS. When the science mission in the Galileo shuttle craft is about to end in a fiery orbital decay, and Spock remarks that such a death was preferable to one on the inhospitable planet below and then the line I remembered from crewman Boma: I admire your ability to make so measured a choice.
ranking dump's press briefings, thats making a similarly measured choice.

Ive always loved that line.

(1,761 posts)You can tell I'm old, because I expected "lost" to go on to "in space." I am presently reading the "These Are the Voyages" TOS books by Mark Cushman. They are very enjoyable if you're a big Star Trek fan

(128,712 posts)from 5 series and even have Shatner's autograph in one of the ones he co-wrote that supposedly took place after the film "Generations" (the first in that series "The Return" ). Have been a fan of D.C. Fontana's, A.C. Crispin's, and Diane Duane's Trek novels (particularly the Vulcan & Romulan ones). So yeah, I hear ya!

(128,712 posts)to turn on "Dark Shadows". Liked Jonathan Frid!
I have all the episodes of 6 Trek series on VHS taped when they aired (including an anniversary set of TOS special edition episodes that SciFi channel had aired back in the late-'90s and the animated TOS one that might be worth your checking out if you hadn't seen any of those). Haven't watched any of the new CBS series (not really ready to pay to watch those )

(1,761 posts)Funnily I was a lost in space fan, not star trek! Liked bill mumy. Never heard of the special edition. Thanks for the tip! I wouldn't pay for new trek either. Still remember anxiously awaiting shadows reboot in '91 and being decimated by what they did to it. Guess I was an old crab when i was 33!
Thanks for the info. Hope you have the best possible holiday, full of hope for the future!

(128,712 posts)Used to come on at 4 pm here in Philly. My first "soap opera"! Used to watch "Lost in Space" too - I had a thing for Mark Goddard. I decided not to bother with the "Lost in Space" reboot. As much as people complain about the older series being "cheesy" there was more of an "adventure" feel to those shows vs the more recent remakes always aiming to be "dark and foreboding" (which is why I actually hated the reboot of "Battlestar Galactica" and preferred the original).
Also liked "The Time Tunnel" during that era, but my fave was actually "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" (David Hedison!!!11!!!!).

(1,761 posts)Dr smith was awesome. I wouldn't mind seeing some time tunnel and outer limits. Twilight zone is my favorite though. I laugh because I rarely watch anything less than 50 years old... my husband has this terrific tv and sound system and all i watch is old stuff.

(128,712 posts)is that back then, the "1 hour show" was 51 minutes. Now you are lucky if a "1 hour show" is 41 minutes with the rest commercials.

I would think the press covering Trump daily would be used to irrational behavior, insane contradictory statements, and a firehose of lies coming from that loser.
