Fulton County recount delayed by Dominion server crash, officials say

Source: 11alive

ATLANTA — The push to complete a recount requested by President Donald Trump's re-election campaign has hit a snag in Georgia's most populous county as the statewide deadline looms.

Fulton County elections officials confirmed to 11Alive on Sunday that a newly-purchased Dominion Voting Systems mobile server had crashed earlier in the day.

"Technicians from Dominion have been dispatched to resolve the issue," Fulton County officials said in a statement. "The Georgia Secretary of State’s office has also been alerted to the issue and is aware of efforts to resolve the problem."

The county plans to resume its counting process on Monday morning. So far, Fulton suggests its teams have already concluded the counting of absentee, early in-person, and provisional ballots - 88 percent of ballots cast.

This is not a Dell, It's supposed to be expensive failsafe tech.
It does look a little sinister, and about that name,
Dominion.

It is crazy to be scanning the ballots after a hand count

I know it’s Georgia law but its foolish

SOS decided to hand count the presidential race as an audit.
Now they are doing a recount because Trump asked for a recount.

How will Democrats feel if the dominion guy comes and “fixes the server” and when they spit out the result tape it shows trump won ?

Having a private company “work”on voting machines during counting is a huge break in the chain of custody

A hard crash would, at worst, mean that it's restored to a point before the crash. Any strange results seen after the restore would result in a review of all the backup data to see if the data was tampered with at any point.
There is no way all the backups could be tampered with.

What I'm saying is that there isn't going to be any surprise change in the results when the system is restored.
I really would like to know the reason for the crash though.
It might be the result of a hacker attack.

You have more faith in the proprietory software than I do .....

The hand count requires no special expertise past fifth grade math

Overseeing elections should be open to anyone interested and not require special expertise

Since software is non transparent you have no idea if it’s counting/reporting correctly

The companies will not allow it to be examined so there is no proof it is correct

With an open transparent hand count of ballots and a tight chain of custody we can all be confident in the result

We had that in Georgia so a machine recount is just a stall

The technology and company are Canadian and we used to be called the Dominion of Canada. Think TD Bank, the real name of which is the Toronto-Dominion Bank.

I'm not saying that computer glitches (and intentional glitches) don't occur. I'm only responding to the poster who questioned the "Dominion" name of these computers.

OTOH, perhaps you were only posting something "related to" but not intentionally vilifying Dominion. If so, my apologies.
