Former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale says that President Trumps biggest policy error ahead of the 2020 election was showing a lack of public empathy about the novel coronavirus.
People were scared, Parscale said in an interview with Fox News host Martha MacCallum that aired Tuesday evening. I think if he would have been publicly empathetic, he would have won by a landslide there. He could have leaned into it instead of run away from it.
Parscale, who was pushed out of the role of campaign manager over the summer, said Trumps decision to push for reopening the country instead of displaying empathy about COVID-19 hurt him with suburban voters in swing states like Georgia and Pennsylvania that Trump ultimately lost to Joe Biden, who is now president-elect.
Parscale described the move as the biggest policy error of the campaign, differentiating it from technical errors.

(17,912 posts)That, however, would have taken at least a modicum of competence. Something neither he, nor Parscale possess.

(45,002 posts)You know that, Brad. The real story isn't what he did or didn't do, it's who he is and what a damaged, fragile narcissist he is. He's ill in the head.

(111,256 posts)Poor Parscale, humiliated on You Tube by the cops, carted off to a posh loony bin, and he still doesn't get it.
Donnie is like that because he has no choice, it's always going to be about Donnie and the only concern about Covid was that the numbers were gonna make him look bad when he did nothing but appoint political toadies to overrule the guys who knew what they were talking about but wouldn't take orders.
Jeez, Brad, we knew you were thick, but enough therapy should have gotten you to catch at least part of a clue.

(9,999 posts)Not because he would have "won in a landslide". "Biggest policy error of the campaign". That is the only way these scumbags look at everything. Trump should have done his f'in' job PERIOD. People have died because of Trump's laziness, incompetence and focus on the economy. Screw them all.

(70,215 posts)hit or miss approach. They needed a stimulus --and needed it now. No. brad P. is wrong.
empathy from trump?? no. by the time of the election it was too late for that--even if trump had managed to pull it off (fake).
Review by the forum hosts:
The opinion of a former campaign manager and an analysis of the impact of an issue on the campaign belongs in GD, since the SOP prohibits opinion and analysis, sabra. Thanks.
