Twitter Confirms Trump Could Be Banned After Inauguration Day For Repeated Violations
Source: Forbes
Warning labels and fact checks have not stopped President Trump from continuing to spread conspiracy theories and use violent rhetoric on Twitter, but after Inauguration Day, those kinds of tweets could land the outgoing president in hot water, and eventually cause him to be banned by the platform, a Twitter spokesperson told Forbes Thursday. . .

What happens in a ban. Does the account and its history disappear?

(89,519 posts)Actually, I like the idea. YES his tweets cause more damage when he's still in office because he'll still have all that official power.
But AFTERWARDS?
I think we all need this restriction clamped down on him. Because while he won't be in office anymore, he can still use that Twitter megaphone to keep his voice blaring loudly in public, allowing him to continue being disruptive, encouraging the country to remain divided, encouraging the malcontent/tea bagger/trumper contingent, and presenting an ongoing threat to national security.
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see his Twitter account TAKEN DOWN!!! Officially! As of January 20th, at noon, when Biden puts one hand on the Bible and another up in the air, to swear the Presidential Oath of Office! It's a short oath, too, so it will only take a few moments. And then it'll be straight-ahead President Biden, and donald in the past tense. He'll fight that part, bigtime. He'll do everything and anything to stay in the headlines and grab the cameras and microphones. ANYTHING! But it just won't be quite the same thing as being President, and likely won't work out the same way.

(511 posts)You raise about the impact of Frump post inauguration.
It is sinister that he is causing such a ruckus now Smokey for his financial gain. Im not sure I can wrap myself around the mindset of the Trumpanzies who are donating to him right now. Looking at the demographics, heck, even without data, just pan the attendees at the rally in Georgia last night. Enough said.
I would offer that it might be difficult to Tweet from whatever cell block he ends up in.

He WON'T be the so-called pResident anymore, as of that miraculous and long-yearned-for moment.

(5,627 posts)Account should have been banned flat out, even if he is the president. He should have been required to post under @potus account, preventing GOP from "deniability" excuse.

(7,857 posts)The one he uses now isn't 'official' and IMO should never have been allowed as a mouthpiece for BunkerBoy.

(7,220 posts)then he doesn't get to block people he doesn't like. And it ISN'T the official communication!
Also, I am betting Twitter is full of shit on this. They're not going to kill their cash cow. And it doesn't matter anyway, because if they keep putting warning labels on his tweet-lies, he'll just move his vile business over to one of the friendlier forums.

twitter could have eliminated this daily poison pill long ago, and chose not to.

I agree with you that Twitter should have shut him down. This "Heads of State" exemption is BS.

Really "could" be banned "after the Inauguration"? Grow up guys, no one is above the law or your rules!
