Trump's bold foreign policy moves raise fear of 'destructive' final days in offi

It's not uncommon for outgoing presidents to try to squeeze through foreign policy decisions with the final flourishes of their executive pen.

But some observers fear that President Donald Trump — disgruntled, still claiming victory — is actively attempting to tie President-elect Joe Biden's hands and shape America's international outlook for months if not years to come.

"It's pretty difficult to think over the course of 50-60 days that you can do something constructive — but you can do something that's really destructive," retired Adm. Michael Mullen, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, recently told NBC's "Meet the Press."

I highly doubt there is any positive out come intended in all of Trump's lame duck attacks. He really seems to wanted to throw as many bombs and plant as many landmines from Biden's administration as possible to punish him for 'stealing the election' and the US for letting him, AFAICT.

I worry more about installing a permanent alternative-universe Deep State that serves private interests outside the government from within the government.

That would be a twist, Trump ends up installing a sort of Mirror Universe Deep State.

Trump has placed them throughout the government, and once he leaves office their single goal will be sabotage. They’re likely to burrow in and try to do as much damage as possible in secret. If there are any career people left in some agencies, they will know who the Trump plants are. Getting rid of them might be a challenge as Trump and his sycophants have ensured that many of them have civil service protections.
