Russia is behind the broad, ongoing cyber spy campaign against the U.S. government and private secto

Source: Washington Post

Russia is behind the massive, ongoing cyber spy campaign against the federal government and private sector, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Friday — the first Trump administration official to publicly blame Moscow for the computer hacks.

“This was a very significant effort, and I think it’s the case that now we can say pretty clearly that it was the Russians that engaged in this activity,” said Pompeo in an interview with the Mark Levin Show.

And talks me down a little. Thanks. This attack is some deeply disturbing stuff. Definitely cyber warfare-level disturbing. Like a Trinity test displaying what can be done to our systems.

But I think it is safe to get off the ledge about marital law.
A month ago I would not have said so.

But I think now Trump is being fed valium by the handful, like they did to Nixon at the end.
And the rest of them are running as fast as they can out of DC.

They're all too busy stealing everything they can before they lose access to things to steal.

Given the penetration of this hack into the private sector, if they were going to wreak total havoc they'd have done it by now.

There are going to be a lot more questions about the firing of Chris Krebs from now on, though.

Don't we have anyone who can retaliate in kind? We've obviously got no federal response until January 20, when Donny Dipshit is dragged out of the oval office by his balls, so in the meantime, can our hackers put down the fucking X-Box controllers and get to work?

these kinds of disruptions are totally predicable in our internet/cyber world. Just a few firms supply the browers, anti-virus programs, productivity software, etc. And since the software is all interconnected just one malware intrusion into one software can spread like wildfire. And the intention is for monetary as well as political/military reasons.
The government has not paid enough attention to the potential disasters that can be caused.
I am not a cyber expert, but I see no solution as long as all this sensitive info is available on internet connected systems.

Just because we private citizens don't see it our hear about it, doesn't mean it's not going on. We don't know because we don't need to know. How much we hear about these activities many times depends on how much an adversary wants to publicize. Usually not very much. It appears to be one sided mainly because we have a free press. The Chinese and Russians don't. The Cold War moved to cyberspace some time ago and America has always been very active. Even in the Donnie era. The real action of government goes on below whatever administration is in office and their thin veneer of political appointees. The sheer scope of our government has been another saving grace the last 4 years.

1st drop drug testing and normal hiring protocols. This allows us to hire our basement hackers . I promise you they will do it for the right amount and kind of bud.
2nd offer american cable for free to russia, no fox or rw crap. Just good channels . We can brainwash them in less than 2 years. Putin can be beat this way. Russia looks like a crack village under him these days. So sell the usa to his 30%.
3rd is a fix we need across the board. All depts and committees have people that work in or for the industries that supply our govt. I propose each dept or committee allow 3 seats or positions to a person that is not making money off of the sales to the govt. This will allow for better choices when it comes to what they buy and use. Cspan should start a procurement channel that would allow better ideas and products a chance to see how to sell it. Sharktank govt style. These issues would help us catch up with technology being used around the world now.

Like it really matters. He barely did the job of Sec State when he wasn't weeks away from end of his master's administration.

When Biden takes over, we need to immediately hit Russia hard. Very hard. And that's just the start. If their military does another dangerous overflight of American warships, we shoot them down. Sorry, "accidents" happen when their military hardware is in such close proximity to our military hardware. The real message is to Putin directly....Don't fucking do it again.
