Stimulus update: Pelosi says Congress plans to announce COVID-19 relief deal today

Source: ABC News

WASHINGTON -- Negotiators are down to a handful of remaining issues as they seek to finalize an almost $1 trillion COVID-19 economic relief package on Saturday, still optimistic the overdue talks would soon produce an agreement. The Senate convened a Saturday session, while House members stood by for a vote that will come no earlier than Sunday.

When asked if Congress will announce a deal on the almost $1 trillion COVID-19 economic relief package by end of the day Saturday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif, responded: "That's the plan, that's the plan."

She said a provision by Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., that would curb emergency Federal Reserve powers was the biggest hurdle to a sealing a deal.

"That has to be resolved. And then everything will fall into place," she said. "It's a very significant difference."

as usual, we got rolled over. from 3 trillions all the way to 900 billions. The "we will put it in the next bill" strategy is bad. McConnel was able to drag it all the way to the last minute where we basically have to yield or get nothing. So predictible.

a next bill, unless we win Georgia, there won't be a next bill. This is why I care more about winning than ideology, what could we have done if had the senate? We have to get Democrats elected...as many as possible...that means a 50 state strategy and a big tent.

Yes $600 checks and $300 a week extended unemployment till April isn’t enough, but it sure beats nothing.

Dems got unemployment extended and a small stimulus check for everyone. That will put food on the table for millions of Americans and for that reason alone, it’s a win.

as the fascists wanted to cut off the trillions being pumped into stocks and bonds so they can blame Biden when the market crashes in half to where it should be without the 7 trillion stimulus check it got so far.

Their mantra is anti-taxes, limited govt and curbing of deficits. The Fed having emergeny spending power goes against those.

Especially with respect to Eagles fans.

Hell... just yesterday I was clearing the rest of the snow from my car (had on a long-sleeve Eagles shirt) and one of the guys operating a bearcat in my lot stopped and then pointed to my shirt and then jumped out and pointed to his partner who had a small hand-operated bearcat nearby doing curb snow removal and told me - "You know he's a Patriots fan" and then started laughing and teasing his buddy while pointing at my shirt.

Don't be fooled by him. He's not running for re-election in 2022 so he can do whatever the hell he wants.

He voted for that damn tax cuts for the rich bill in 2017 and that piece of shit legislation removed massive amounts of revenue over the past 3 years that could have been available to buffer against the pandemic and the economic fallout from it.
