After legal threat, Fox airs news package debunking election fraud claims made by its own hosts
Source: CNN
New York (CNN) If President Trump tunes into Fox News this weekend, he may see something unexpected: a point-by-point fact-check to wild election fraud claims made by some of his favorite hosts on the network.
After voting technology company Smartmatic sent Fox News a blistering legal threat that accused the network of participating in a "disinformation campaign" against it, the network has started airing a remarkable news package debunking claims its hosts and guests have propagated.
The package aired for the first time Friday night on Lou Dobbs' show. Fox News said the same package would air Saturday night on Jeanine Pirro's program as well as Sunday morning on Maria Bartiromo's show. All three hosts, who use their platforms to air pro-Trump propaganda, are close with the President.
The stunning news package featured an interview with voting technology expert Eddie Perez, who poured cold water on a series of conspiracy theories that have been amplified and promoted on the shows of Dobbs, Pirro, and Bartiromo.

(8,200 posts)We are allowing these traitors to spread lies that are destroying the minds of millions of gullible citizens who thrive on their ridiculous lies. Lies that provide them with an unfounded sense of superiority when in fact they are among the most ignorant and misinformed who have ever existed in our society. This especially includes the White Nationalist racist trash that continue to dominate the working class with their message of hatred. Trump was elected solely on the basis of his appeal to the racist working class after years of spreading outright lies about Obama solely designed to gain the support of this segment of the electorate that is dominated by the working class lower educated class who can be easily misled by putting the blame of their miserable self induced situation on the minorities. That was his sole appeal along with catering to the ultrawealthy who have been stepping on the very necks of the people who have been convinced to accept the propaganda that has been spread by the Republican Party for the last forty plus years starting with Nixon's Southern Strategy and Regan's Welfare Queen bullshit and seized by the present demagogue who is destroying the very essence of the nation's adherence to democratic principles of governance.
we have moscow mitch and the senate repugs to thank for leaving this criminal cabal in the white house.

So sure, pricks, retract everything. Welcome to the real world.

(36,818 posts)As such they have accountability to a board of directors that only has the interest of shareholders. What this suggests is shareholder interest is forcing Fox to retract so the legal threat is significant enough to affect share prices. Newsmax and OAN have no such accountability. So long as their investors want the crazy on the air, out it goes. Kinda funny because as smaller entities they have a lot more to lose.

(8,038 posts)it won't do shit as far as getting deplorables to see the light.
What's needed is for each of the Fox Spews spewers to apologize personally, and personally run down the list saying, "I'm sorry, but this was a lie. I lied to you and smeared these people and this company. We know Biden won the election and that Trump lost, but we lied to you anyway."
The company ought to threaten Dobbs and the others with legal action personally, and not just the Fox News corporation.
They might consider also going after the sponsors of these programs, insisting that they too apologize and pay for ads debunking all the conspiracy BS.

They should be made to call everyone who has received death threats due to these lies and apologize for being a party to this travesty.

The extent that they went to with this is exactly what should always be done.
I;d just like to see someone ask Dobbs and the rest "What do you say NOW??"
