Local and federal authorities are investigating the explosion of a recreational vehicle that broadcast a warning to residents before it blew up in downtown Nashville early Friday.

The explosion, which police called an "intentional act," shattered the Christmas morning quiet in the center of the city’s business district around 6:30 a.m. CT.

Tissue was found following the blast, and authorities are examining to confirm whether it could be human remains, according to Metropolitan Nashville Police John Drake. He added that there were otherwise no known fatalities from the blast, and authorities had no advance warning in the days prior that the explosion was imminent.

Three people received non-critical injuries, bricks toppled from buildings blocks away, trees were knocked to the ground, and streets had the charred look of a battleground.

to evacuate before it went off. But was someone watching to set it off when the cops got there?

The one witness I heard said she heard gun shots but saw no shooters and now thinks maybe the shots were the first part of the recording.

the person inside was threatening someone like a child so as to lure them as close as possible.
My guess given where the bomb hit and when is that it was most likely part of some sort of robbery either digital or in person that required to take down the communications in the area to pull it off.
Why? Well a number of factors.
Number one is the time as if it was aimed at harming people you do not warn them.
Second is that the time it went off which was when there were few people around.
Third is the time of year which is when alot of people are both not at work.
Now we come to the fourth which is the fact that it took place around the time when alot of places both have alot of money as well as alot more valuable merchandise on hand for customers such as jewelry for example.

...Tried to screw an iconic Santa Barbra ranch/hotel. Got eventually extradited from Texas to atone for it.

Randy Quaid and his wife Evi have been arrested for dashing out on their lofty bill at the San Ysidro Ranch earlier this month. The two were arrested in Marfa, Texas after the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s department issued a warrant for their arrest. The Sheriff’s press release said Texas authorities reported that Evi Quaid engaged in a struggle with police during the arrest. The two are being held at the Presidio County Sheriffs Department.

The couple’s San Ysidro Ranch hotel bill was more than $10,000, according to the Sheriff’s statement, and bail was set at about $20,000 for each of the Quaids. The charges against the couple include conspiracy, burglary and defrauding an innkeeper. It is unclear whether they will be extradited back to Santa Barbara County.

But Jeff Bridges is a local and here is a counter to Quaid's assholery.

A person, or persons, committed enough to their "cause" to give their own life while causing this kind of destruction and mayhem usually want to take others with them. From what I've heard so far, whoever did this seemed to be trying to avoid casualties.

Reminds me of that Ryder truck McVeigh used in OKC. All I can say about all this is that I'm glad it wasn't a killer. Thank God the bomber(s) didn't want to kill anybody, or at least not a lot of people.

...on the rear axle gave the info as to who rented the truck. This likely domestic terrorist act will be traced the same way. Locking down the crime scene for the next 48 hours via local curfew is the right thing to do. Let science and proven investigative methods work. We all have our own acceptance of other peoples theories but I trust the science more than opinion.

... more footage, which might give more detail.

I have listened a few too many times and might be hallucinating things, but I swear that the "beep" sound used in the end-recording warnings was clipped from something else that had words, perhaps an emergency broadcast (or even the "beep" from a "This number is no longer in service, this is a recording" message, because I swear I'm hearing "ing" at the beginning of the beep). PD said the recording at times also played music?

All of those things, if that particular camera was recording enough of the footage to get that audio before the blast, will help LE piece together just how it was made and if it was entirely pre-recorded and timed. (And while I'm glad I don't have the nightmares of whatever "music" this sick fuck would think was appropriate to play in a bomb warning blast, the FBI psychological profilers will likely use that information.)

Can they tell the sex of a victim from blood and tissue samples?

Would they know from DNA if a person was Chinese or Russian?

I read it on The Tennessean.

This whole thing is just creepy...
No one was seriously hurt, but it just creeps me out with the recording, empty street, sudden explosion...
Hate to say it, it's "creepier" than the usual car bombing, because people usually get killed in those. In this case there were a few injuries, but it just creeps me out..
