Trump, Michelle Obama top Gallup's 2020 most admired lists

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump and former first lady Michelle Obama are the most admired man and woman of 2020, according to a new Gallup poll released Tuesday.

It's the first time Trump has topped the list alone, ending a 12-year run by his predecessor, Barack Obama, with whom he tied for most admired in 2019. For Michelle Obama, it's her third straight year as the most admired woman in America.

For Trump, the title reflects in part his enduring popularity among Republicans, even after a tumultuous year in which he was impeached, widely criticized for his administration's handling of the coronavirus pandemic and racial tensions, and lost reelection. Gallup noted that few Republicans named anyone else besides the President -- who holds a 39% overall approval rating -- while Democrats split their votes.

Barack Obama came in second among men at 15%. President-elect Joe Biden came in third with 6% of and Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, came in fourth with 3%. Pope Francis, Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Bill Gates were also among the most admired men on the list.

So the vote was spread around.

I think OrangeAss was the only repuke on the list, if memory serves me correctly, so obviously that's why he topped the list.

At the same time, it's an amazing feat for Michele to top the list. Was Melanoma the only repuke? And she still couldn't do any better than third.

Be best.

Trump is, apparently, the only person Republicans "admire". I can't even imagine.

Exceptions include -

Lyndon Johnson (1967-1968), Richard Nixon (1973), Gerald Ford (1974-1975), Jimmy Carter (1980), George W. Bush (2008) and Trump (2017-2018) are the incumbent presidents who did not finish first in past years.

The poll was conducted by telephone from December 1-17 among a random sample of 1,018 adults. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Trump received 19% as most admired man
Barack Obama came in second among men at 15%.
President-elect Joe Biden came in third with 6%
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, came in fourth with 3%.

Barack, Biden and Fauci totaled 24%

If you're going by that standard, then all combined against Trump was 82%. What is fair to say is that Biden and Obama combined gives us 21%. That beats Trump. He's all they have, we have many heroes.

And while Fauci is apolitical, I think it's fair to say he is respected more by the left than by the right.
