Campaign to recall Newsom gets first six-figure donations

Source: The Hill

A campaign formed to recall California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) received a $500,000 donation this week, the first six-figure contribution to the effort thus far.

A consulting firm based in Irvine called Prov 3 : 9 offered its donation of half-a-million dollars towards the efforts to generate a recall election of the governor in response to Newsom's handling of coronavirus pandemic measures, Politico reported.

A separate venture capital firm Sequoia Capital also contributed a $100,000 donation towards the recall campaign's efforts, further solidifying the effort's potential, marking the two largest donations it has received to date.

The recall election has been promoted by conservative actors, including former Republican gubernatorial candidate John Cox and the California Republican Party. Other notable GOP figures, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, have endorsed efforts to bring forth a recall election for Newsom.

I expect California will give John Coxucker, Newt Gingrich and Mike Suckabeast a mighty fuck you.

Sequoia Capital, headquartered on Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park deserves the progressive equivalent of a proud boys visit

A few black masks picketing the entry to Sequoia’s parking lot might make them understand the gravity of the situation

Remember, their money substituted moderate Grey Davis for douchebag Arnold Terminator ( who has since seems to have just left the reservation).

(thanks to slimy car thief and all-around piece-of-shit Darrell Issa) we wound up with "Governor" Arnold Schwartzenegger. I'm well aware that Ahhnold has been doing a LOT of image-rehab since, but his governorship was a grotesque shitshow during which he demonstrated that he is a Donald-grade scumbucket.

California damn well better not fall for such nonsense again.

18. CA Republicans Were Planning Recalls of All CA Officials Before the Pandemic
Wed Dec 30, 2020, 10:20 PM
Dec 2020

The reason is that in California, when you have a recall, the replacement to fill the vacancy is a big free for all, and recall elections are generally low turnout affairs because they are not during a regular election. That is why they were also targeting Bacerra in AG. So, even though the Gubernatorial election is in 2022, Republicans are trying to get a jump by having a recall election during 2021 in the midst of pandemic. This just goes to show that the goal for Republicans is to have elections where most folks are not going to actually vote.

Republicans were scheming to get him out of office. All they needed was an issue, and COVID provided it. If he didn’t have such national potential, this wouldn’t be happening.

So these people are presumably pushing for recall of at least 38 other governors too? eg Arkansas, 16th, 1,218 per million, or Georgia, 1,030, compared to California, 657.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

I'm sure California could have done things better; but it's not like it was the national fuckup that Trump presided over.
